SO... I was planning on being at bike night last night but we decided to roll, out Wolf Creek before-hand. Didn't get back to town until 9:30, pull up at the business park and there were a bunch of cops blocking the intersection. I thought we had permission? I am bummed...I heard it was a really great turn-out this week! :mecry: Did everyone just go home after the cops showed?

We ended up going on a town cruise and ending up at Gateway Mall.

I am surprised we went to that particular business park anyway. We should go to that unoccupied business park farther west Eugene off Terry Street. I think that place would be farther away from Eugene and would draw less attention. Just a thought

lol...did everyone end up getting to the mall in a group? The last time we tried a ride in town it ended up with people going all different directions.

As I suggested earlier, I say we go to that business park off Terry St on the outskirts of Eugene. It's pretty desolate, and way more low key.

I have seen this before. We are considered a nuisance and a problem to the community. Even though they might not come out and say this, we are a threat and a problem. The last thing people want is a bunch of "hooligan" sportbike riders raising holy hell around town. When we are singled out we are harmless and easy to pick off, but in a group it scares people. We are fast and loud, and real fast. They think of children being run over, or an accident where someone else is hurt or killed. Trust me, I know from experience.
You will probably not have much luck in convincing the city, or finding an area for screwin around unless it is a area where safety precauctions are taken and monitored. All it will take is one person to be seriously injured and an ambulance on the scene before we will make the news and have even more people against our fun. If we were a bunch of people in a unicycle riding club then everybody would care less, but because these are considered on-highway applications and have a license plate we will have problems no matter where we go....
Its considered the same as street racing.

......There are a lot of haters in this world.

Just my :2cents: .

Hey...if skaters get skate parks...then why can't we have motorcycle parks?! People think that skaters are hooligans too...

I c and understand both sides... Im actually gonna tract down who my city council member is and see what I can do from that angle... I have been told by a good source that lastnight was to send a message and that we are going to be watched close this summer. A city council member is the one with the grudge, how and why I do not know but it sucks.

i was also thinking about calling the city to see if we can have a spot to do it and also maybe some kind of permit to do it as well

so someones out to get us huh- **** em, burn down their house, **** in their yard, eat their dogs.....sorry got out of hand there!!! but gimme a break. so you'd rather have 50 pissed off people cruising around town, or stick them in a corner to do there thing and hurt no one.

I have a suggestion.

We should talk to the people at Emerald Empire Sports Car Club. They are the ones that put on the huge autocross street races every month at places like Valley River, the Coke plant, and Gateway. You have prolly been to or seen the races before.

They are sanctioned and completely legal. If we could find out how they did it and get permission from Coke, for instance, we could ride out at the Coke plant every week. We just need to find out how Emerald Empire got set up and what they had to do.

Here is there webpage http://www.eescc.org/.

I know it involves waivers and stirck rules. If we could pull it off, Id be stoked... Id be getting a huge sproket and cages before you could blink. Im will to help- Let me know what I can do and mayby we can also get together and write a formal letter to the city council explaining that we are punks or drunks ya know,,, we just wanna have our fun in a contained area.

you know if well all start calling important people in the city, and ask for help it might just work.. remeber one person can get only so far but a group can get even farther.. our voices together should get some results.. lets talk more about this

Great suggestion BigMike! Ron, I know you were going to try and contact our city councel member/members, do you have some contact information for them that you are able to post here? We should all call them and ask what we can do to get this off the ground. I know that where Im from, (North Carolina) the rules are that it has to be privately owned property with permission given in writing, and that it has to be closed off with a gate or cones etc to keep spectators out of harms way. What do you all know about it for here?

Sounds exactly like what they do for autocross. So maybe if someone in charge contacts Coke or VRC we can get permission to do what EESCC does.

Well I know a few of the people that run the autocross and will give them a call. That is a good idea, but I know its a lot of legal stuff, which would be worth it if we can pull it off. It might take a while

Okay... strange question... if you know autocross people, do you or anyone else, know any drifters? (the car kind...lol.) And I mean good, serious ones... I have been wanting to learn to drift the Miata (once I get rid of the horrible tires that are on it now...) but I want to learn to do it as safely as possible..I don't need any more accidents for a while.

I have been wanting to learn to drift the Miata (once I get rid of the horrible tires that are on it now...) but I want to learn to do it as safely as possible..I don't need any more accidents for a while.Might I suggest that you practice on the tires you currrently have on there now? You will find that "Good" tires will offer more stability and control. If you get it down with less than optimum tires, you will certainly dominate with decent ones.
Oh, lest you forget the corners of the business park (ones down by the smeltline) have a couple of bad bumps in them. Not a good idea to practice there. Car or bike.

The tires I have on now (I think) would be really dangerous. They are some kind of water/all weather tire that the ex put on right before we split up... (to piss me off maybe?...lol). The car is one of my garage ornaments... I have no idea why he put those on, but when you corner fast at all, the car sways back and forth really bad. I would worry that it would roll before it slides right now. They don't have many miles on them, I may try to see if the tire place will give me some trade-in on them if I buy some new ones.... too bad they won't fit on my Honda... oh well.

well first of all, I still haven't got the call back yet from auto x guys. Second of all your car won't flip first if you have slicks on them that are as hot as your bikes tires, and third of all I can drift all wheel drive pretty good, but I wouldn't trust myself in someone elses vehicle if it wasn't all wheel drive. expecially doing it on the street or somewere like that. and sorry but I don't know any really good ones...I know some that think there good...but that will only make it worse. There are a couple at auto x that used to drift in CA and are insane good...but I haven't really talked to them enough to know them good yet. If your looking for a car JUST FOR DRIFTING though, the miata is not it...don't get me wrong you can drift a ford fiesta if you want to, but if you want a JUST DRIFT car go with a 240SX or an 2nd Gen RX-7 and gut the back of it. there are many others just as good, but I had the rx-7 (88 convertable) and it did well in the drifts.
