View Full Version : Calendar for 08??

FJMam

Last year there was talk of a calendar. Many suggestions were made but we didn't get our stuff together in time to make it work.

This year we have more the 2X the membership at ESB and well over 3X on OSB. Just in this forum "Pictures" there could be some pictures worth considering.

Is anyone interested in taking on this project?

Funds could go to a charity or an account for injured riders?

Just a little thought Keshtie, maybe some of the funds could go towards paying for the web hosting and bandwidth.

Just a though since I know that the month I was off work after my get off I made more from all my insurances then I did working 50+ hrs/wk.

Thanks Flyte,

This would be a great idea. I'm surprised that we haven't managed any other sponsors yet.
This way there also would be no need to decide where it goes.

How about it all you sexy riders?!

Of course, that would be all of us since we are motorcycle people.

Now I understand that most calendars are bikini girls and a superbike on a stand, but locals do calendars with race(track) pics or just a good shot in the woods as the sun sets. The beach, lakes, etc... It doesnt always have to be about the girls.

......Now on the other hand if your totally hot and wanna take of your clothes in front of a fast bike, then of course I have a special place for taking the professional photos................

Seriously though, I would love to participate.

excellent.. south hills in eugene-ish? lets figure out a time and place to get it done. ive been asking folks what their style is and no answers as of. i ask because im not looking for generic pics. id like to hit on something both unique and individual. its easy to shoot bikes and people but it can be so much more. who the person is and what theyre about is what makes a shot a story.. doesnt have to be difficult either. id just like to get something other than ordinary. and if this calendar thing doesnt happen, some folks are gonna have a set of pics. i hear some folks want to be included but noone has stepped up to help get it finished..:idunno: i suppose i could try for an independent type deal, well see. anyways.. lets get you shot!! im off for the summer and am flexible..

So Jennifer,

Welcome to last year's challanges. Time schedules. Perhaps if you want to take the bull by the horns and set specific dates and times and locales that seem to fit a variety of folks you would get managable turn outs.

At least you have them excited and reacting!! We need to encourage Kris to get her beautiful self down here since she is the heart beat of the ESB/OSB families!

Bike night would be an excellent op.

There's also the Monday people/odd schedule folks.

Good luck. and I'm happy to help.

Sun, Mon, Tues. for me.

We should have a logistics conversation at some point. Probably some nice warm eve in Cottage Grove or Creswell?
I have at least 2 week days off each week and can help with some of this.

I have a friend that is a graphic artisit and makes the calander for her company each year. If we need her advise I know she'd be helpful.

OK, I am in for some pic's too... We could think of doing a mix on each page of group pic's, stunt picks, and twisty riding pic's??? Just another thought. Also, if it would be easier, we could have local people take the pictures and then get together and lay them out. I think lots of group shots would be good, as this seems to be a site dedicated to the social componant of riding as well, which is way cool....:rad: :rad:

anyways...

Also, it might be neat to take a pic on bike nights down here on thursday from the sidewalk, as the group rides past. htey tend to be decent sized groups.

Off I-5 turn West and go over on the bridge(overpass). At the bottom of this is a strip mall with Ray's, GW a coffe shop and gas station.

99 pass right by it, North of town.

Play it by ear. A little of both? See what comes out.

Scouting West of town toward Lorane should give us some good spots.

ANother consideration would be what kind of image do we want to present. Obviously we are going for a family appropriate calendar, as a lot of people on the sites have children and whatnot. My thought though was this...if you are in a picture that is an action shot, wear gear. At least jacket, gloves, helmet, more if you wanna show your gear off. If you are doing a posing shot, you dont necessarily need to be wearing it, but having it somewhere in the pic would be good. This way, we can promote safe riding with gear and whatnot. I didn't think this woudl be an issue with the stunters either, as for the most part, our local stunters usually wear a good amount of gear. What do you guys think?

I agree with Fade. Gear is important.

How are we going to promote this? I know many of us will be buying more then one but what about beyond our circle?
Distribution? All the business stuff.....

Will we want the services of my friend that is a graphic designer who does her company's 3D calendars?

so what about your buddy that does graphic design? do we just need to get her pics and she can put it together?? i like it!! do you want to get in on this and help get it together??

I'll contact my friend "J" and see if she'd like to help with the final artwork and such. she'll also know the other details of producing the final works.

Generally I have Sunday thru Wed. morn to deal with things. We'll talk at the shoot on the 30th.
I was asked by a few people about the next photo shoot(s). I told them about the 30th. Maybe a seperate thread for each seperate opportunity? :idunno:

I need to be back to Eug. to give blood by 2:30 so this is plenty of time.

There are some nice areas out by Dorena lake (i don't know rode conditions). And if you go past Dorena you end up in National forest land which is beautiful (if you go right instead of left to wildwood falls at the sign). We're doing this to help support our virtual meeting place and community. From which many of us have met lots of cool folks and had some really fine rides. The more people we have willing to pitch in the more fun it should be.

In terms of people involved with making the ESB calendar happen this is where we stand.

RoadRunner has been taking pictures and is probably at her deadline soon.

"J" is putting together the graphics and logistics.

FJMam is playing cheer leader and coordinator.

Evileye has offered to help with flyers and such.

RexRaider is helping with anything that needs doing.

We need more direct reaction form ALL members. Should we post polls for dfferent questions? We know that most want a good mix of active members and their bikes plus misc. bike stuff.

What do you say?
If we don't hear a little more enthusiasm then it's not happeneing. I have dozens of other things I can be doing with my time and I feel sure the others would probably agree.

JaneHonda Can we get access to the ESB Logo for the printer and graphics?

Thanks.
