I have solved the puzzle... It's a British Superbike Rider on a GSX-R, not a moto GP ride. Here is a link with some more pic's. I think the number is 35, just on the angle of the pic looks like 33, or they could have a new rider or changed numbers??? Here's the link.....

That's a very cool picture, but I'm guessing the flame and heat distortion is mostly photochop work.

possibly not. I've been to a couple of races and I've seen plenty of bikes let loose a ball of flame. Happens when coming off the gas, into a corner, then getting back on, or bliping the throttle for a down shift. The race gas is so potent, it builds up fumes in the exhaust that ignite when heated and compressed. watch an AMA or WSB race on tv and you'll see them.
