Considering that your fan won't even come on before like 210+, I would say you are problably ok. This happend while you were going 55mph+? If you were drafting the vehicles in front of you, that could account for some of it. It was a hot @$$ day, and going to be hotter today. So there is a good chance that's what was up. When bikes over heat, they don't do it by a little bit. It's kind of an all or nothing kinda deal. Either your fluid is boiling over, or it's not. My bike runs those temps just crusing in downtown traffic on a cold day. Also what gear were you in? If you were running 10-11,000+ rpm on the freeway that is a quick way to dump some heat into you radiator. I wouldn't sweet it to much man, just keep an eye on you temp gauge for a little while. Really you should always be checking it, but just give it some extra attention for now. :2cents:

Best of luck and keep us posted.

thanks tom

dont like to take cage if i dont have to. shoot its going to be hot in my gear but better safe then sorry.
Very well said Edwin. and Tom hit the nail on the head. I typically run 180 on the hwy, and push 215 in traffic between stop lights. if you ever approach the 230 - 245 mark, then I would start to think about pulling off and shutting her down.

I had an 01 thats perfectly normal. My 07 Runs between 180-215 on a regular basis. Just depends on where I am and how hot it is outside. Its been really hot so im not surprised with those numbers at all.

Yeah, these bikes run HOT. I remember thinkin' I had problems early on as I was running 180 easy. My brother, an GSXR junkie, set me straight. A few days ago I hit 220 getting out of town and the bike is still running fine. Just dont touch that frame with soft skin!!!(It should be behind a few mils of leather anyhow).

I agree with what everyone has said here so far. You could also put some Water Wetter in with your coolant to get it to run at a few degrees cooler.

Water Wetter works or run engine Ice.
