howdy all... so yesterday after finishing my tires i got the chance to go check out a buddy of mines' new bike. not new new but... anyways... i did a once over before the ride and not too bad. a couple of miles down the road on a straight stretch at speed i get a huge shimmy left and right and back from the rear. never been there but knew right away what it was. i flipped the key and coasted to the side of the road. side stand down to get off and take a look-see and the thing had blasted oil all over the underneath, both sides and the rear tire was totally coated with it. immediately i had cut the thing off after the loss of rear and i didnt hear any clanking noises coming from the motor. ...on the once over i had noticed a small leak from the oil pan. so. im to fill it back up with oil, clean all the blown oil and let it sit for a bit to see if itll seep. if not would starting it be a good idea or is there something else i should do first?? the bike is a 1990 with just over 10k. i could tell it had been sitting for a bit and the spiders had time to establish homes. what do you think??? thanks for input.

thats what I would do. Might not find where until it builds up pressure. Just hope it's something simple.

Sounds like your buddies bike has some issues.....

your sher not having any luck with the bikes lately, check your horrorscope then check for gremlins and a pinch of salt over the shoulder couldn't hurt.

sounds like something came lose check the casing bolts and filter and drain bolt.
the rubber seal on the filter might be the prob. too, if a seal is not coated lightly with oil it can bind when tighting. happend to me on a ford.

for sure.. hopefully its pass the next quality control check!! lol.. i kinda felt bad at first but then was very relieved that it happened to me and exactly how it did. it might have sucked pretty bad any other way.. did i mention that i pushed the thing for two miles? hahahahha but not.. they all couldnt figure out why i didnt just leave the bike. i did look for a place to hide it but i wouldnt have left mine so no way was i gonna leave someone elses. two meth heads stopped for me and offered a ride. yeah right. as i got withina half a mile a lady stopped and asked if id like her to help push it and i said id love for you to help push the thing but no thank you and thank you so much for stopping. no need to make another suffer. i did learn that when on a check out ride take a cell phone! and be very clear about the route..
