I just shortened a Kickstand for a Ninja today for another ESB Member. Here are a couple of hints for anyone else doing this mod after lowering a bike.
It is important to put the pad back on the kickstand at the same degree of angle and postion that the lower pad was from the factory. I first built a welding
jig that fit on the side of the kickstand tube which had a small pad of metal welded on at the same angle of the bottom pad. Once I cut off the lower pad, and then shortened the bottom of the kickstand tube an additional 1-3/16" , I clamped the pad on the bottom of the jig. I moved the jig straight up the tube 1-3/16" and welded the lower pad back on at the same position it was before cutting.
I have no picture of the jig, because I welded it at work.

This has been a Public Service Message from Dr. Obvious. Thank you.

That's cool. Paul give me a call when you go for some rides and I will go. I don't have internet right now so I don't know when you guys are going. How was your trip to LV.

Thanks,

You are welcome Kenny, glad to help out a fellow member and motorcycle enthusiast. So, does the bike sit like you were hoping? I took off a total of
1-1/4" including removing the old weld.

I had to bend the kickstand out more and still sitting too straight. The bike is fine if I turn the wheel to the left but when I turn the wheel to the right its more likely to fall over, so right now I'm calling it goods. I'll just tell my bro just park it with the whell facing left.

Here's the pic from the back.

How much did you lower the bike?

The rear 1.25" using vortex lowering links and I drop the front about .5" Its just right for my bro's height. It kinda looks like a pocket bike, to me.

We lowered Ellies 636 by about an inch front and back, and have had to be real careful with the too long kickstand. Have to choose parking spaces carefully, but on flat ground is still ok. Ah the art of a good weld. Very nice looking.
