Id love to tell you how you do it, but it seems that there is someone that always knows how to do it better.
Good luck. Its not that hard.

When you go to put the seal on, take a sandwich bag (medium thickness like a zip-lock) and cut off a cone shaped section from the bottom corner. Then place this cone around the bottom of the fork, so that it covers the slider groove. Then slide the seal over the bag and on to the fork. This will reduce the chance of cutting the seal on the sharp edges of the slider groove.
Additionally, if you are going to mess with the internals and replace the fluid, keep everything as clean as possible! :2cents:
Good luck.

best I can come up with is to have Dan Kyle, the RC51 guru rebuild them. worked wonders for my sp1 :2cents:

sorry about that. Dan's (http://www.kyleusa.com/) website is underconstruction right now, but I can vouch for his work. made the front end feel less soft, had the right springs for my wieght installed put in new fluid, revalved, etc.
shhh...:shhh: don't tell anyone, but he has just recently purchased the rights to the domain names www.rc61.com and www.rc61.org some of us are waiting very impatiently to see what this is all about.

thanks for the info how longs the turnaround time. i have mine 1/2 apart and need a "special f-in tool" to removed the dampner. i think ill just have mine stock until i can afford to get em valved for my heftyness.

fork dampner holder it keeps the dampner rod from turning while you unbolt it.

hmm, that's a tricky one. I'm sure the tube is hollow and easily crushed. I guess the back yard mechanic way would to be pliers with a towel to avoid scarring of the tube, but it would probably be better to just buy the tube. I'm guessing you have the type that runs from the frame to the fork tube?

yeah, their service is first rate. when you send them in, they will ask you to include your weight without gear, type of riding, etc., and they are much improved when they return. I think cost is 400. But compared to new forks at 1200, well it's a hell of a bargain. Next up for me is the rear shock, and a link which raises the rear ride height. If you need any help with the mods, let me know, and I can also get what is known as the Nicky mod done for free. guy over at www.rc51.com (http://www.rc51.com) does them and they look great. also help to see the front sprocket so you can gauge wear.
