"When I hit this ledge at about 55 m.p.h. it threw the bike violently and I had to struggle to stay aboard"
I have been through there twice... no problems... My guess is the problem is that 2002 HD Low whatever.....I am sure it has nice crisp handeling and fast response to handlebar inputs...

..."Holmes, a motorcyclist, said there's no way a rider can line himself up perpendicular to the scraped depressions in order to cross them safely."
That guy's definitely on a cruiser.... I've carved my way through there a half dozen time on two different bikes. It's bad pavement and warrants caution, but it's not as dangerous as they make is sound. It could get a little scary during a dark and rainy night . But, hey, that hardly ever happens around here. Ride safe.

Been through there a few times. It sucks, but if you are paying attention (like someone on a bike should be) it's not too bad.
Thanks for looking out for us, baby. you're da best!

Isn't this the same construction we've been riding over for the last 8 months or so? Haven't heard of any accidents from this nasty bit.
Maybe he had low tires or was half asleep. Nails are every where.
Should we feel sorry that he has to ride the beautiful side roads?
whaa whaa whaaa :mecry: :mecry: :mecry:  What Edwin said.
Now how much of our taxes are they going to spend on this "Dangerous" situation?
:2cents: done

I do have to wonder, with all the marvelous inventions & science we have out there, WHY do we have to groove out the pavement to get the stripes off anyway? Isn't there a better way to get it off? :idunno: Or, why not just paint over it with the same paint in black? Just seems like a huge waste of tax $$$ to grind it off the :censored: roads.
:blah-blah
I've ridden this stretch many, MANY times and it can catch you by suprise a little, but I seriously doubt it will throw you off a bike...and yes, it's been like that for a long time.. don't know why its such a big deal all of a sudden. I worry more about the one part of the southbound lane that is very narrow and at a weird angle. The big trucks seem to drift WAY into my lane when I'm in the car going through there and I can't get over far enough for them!

Because THAT would be far too inexpensive and practical for the government!! [blonde] :bash:

OK, Kevin; you've had your fifteen minutes of fame, even got your picture in the paper. So now why don't you sit down, shut up, and get into your car? Better yet, take an MSF course to learn how to deal with EVERYDAY hazards like the one that almost claimed your life. While you're at it, why not check your tire pressure and steering head bearing adjustment? That's a big, heavy, manly hunk of MC you ride, but it needs maintenance just like our crotch rockets do. FYI, I came across that same section in the dark a few weeks ago and didn't even notice any grooves.

I love this part of the road. I don't really care about the road to much it the dumb@$$ jerks that see the left lane closed ahead and instead of getting over then they have to speed up and cut 3 people off while doing it. Then they almost run into the cones and the people working on the road, and everyone slams on the breaks. Then everyone wants to kill that one person that had to be 3 people ahead. Sh*t thats worse than the Road condition!!!! Now don't get me wrong the road has bumps and grooooves that are deep. (That can throw you off your bike with out you knowing its going to happen. Over than the big ass grooooves in the road that have been there every day since they started the project) ha ha sorry :nutkick Just watch the road you can see the groooves

or anything other than a brick of a bike!!!
i love this part of the road. both directions are fun angles and the road conditions and traffic make it more so. its just part of riding. brick season is just about over and when its time for them to get back out on the road next year it might be fixed or finished. amatuer season is winding down. pack up your summer toys and get back to baking or whatever it is you do when you wish you were riding... yay hoooray

:mecry: So the whinny weeinies at the H-D shop got their way. A new surface is going to be put down so it isn't so "Dangerous" and deadly for motorcyclists. :crash:
Cost....about $170,000. They don't even know who to charge for it. Better not be us tax payers. :wife :nutkick :yell:
Send the bill to the Harley whiners. :twofinger
Saw this in the R-G.

Keshtie, you should know by now ANYTHING the government does is paid for by tax payers (that would be us).
MadMax
10-24-2007, 04:59 PM
That really bothers me, especially because those whiners have already parked their bikes for the year!
As for the bill, they should just charge the people complaining. If they are willing to pay $25k for a bike and $1500 for ape-hangers, then they can afford to pay for this.
Edit: Most of them are doctors or lawyers or CPA's anyways!

Anyone notice the huge power boost the new Buell is getting from the non-harley motor?
