So my RF only got ~33mpg on its first tank, and that's with easy riding (not getting on it too much because it's new to me). I'm wondering if any of you know how much it would help to have the carbs synced, and how much that typically cost. Also, is there anything I should look at doing to improve the mileage?
Edit: If anyone here has the tools/know-how, I'd be more than willing to compensate you for the time (food, drink...)

I don't know the "how-to" part, but I'd start by looking at the air filter & spark plugs, then look at the carbs. I'd also check the chain for proper slack and lube it. Basically, anything that can affect the power, or cause a mechanical loss in power (some "mechanical loss" is normal and to be expected - you just want to minimize).

also, check the tire pressure. I think Rex Raider has a sync tool, and knows how to use it.

I got new tires and adjusted the chain, the rest is up to Clint.

is it just me or does 33mpg seem a bit low. My RC is a gas swallowing v-twin and I'm getting 35 on the highway, as long as I'm not on it. when I open her up though......... Maybe 28.

Well, My gas pig v-twin TLR gets about what you do... 35-38 mpg or so... My RF900 is getting about 35, but it's way over jetted, and on a trip with the wife to Crater Lake we got 40+ two up. My GSX-R gets from 38 (riding hard) to 45 cruising. ANyway, thats all I have to say about that.

I didn't think to figure it out when I filled up today, but it seemed better than my last fill up.

So this tank got 38.4mpg, and the gas light came on at 100 miles (2 gallons left).

I think that's a bit low. Since Clint said the engine was in good shape, I'm guessing the normal mechanical losses are a bit higher than normal.

That does sound a bit low for a 600, especially an RF. Does it have an aftermarket pipe? If so perhaps someone put a jet kit in it and set it up a little rich.

It has a yosh slip on with jetting done at cycleparts. It's still 2x the mileage of my truck, so I'm not that sad. And I mostly use for driving for work, so I actually make money with the reimbursement :)
