I really hope that the rider killed today was not one of the board members. Details are limited at this time, but the news said the chase started on Prairie Road after the bike was "alledgedly" clocked at more than 100 MPH. Reports said the rider attempted to elude and the chase went west on Hwy. 36 to Applegate Trail where the rider lost control and hit a guardrail . The rider was reported to have died at the scene. Bummer. To the family I give my condolences.
I also hate to see situations like this ever happen No matter what the ticket would have been, it could never match the loss that now must be dealt with.
Ride safe out here and be well.

I already got a phone call about this ealier, but the only detail that I have to offer is that I heard it was a red Suzuki.
As Paul said, peace be with the family. :frown:
RIP
Hope everyone walks away from this with a mutual understanding about what really matters.
Forget about the cops, forget about the tickets; when you ride over your head, you may very well end up dead. Everyone please be safe out there.

KOIN in Portland reports that the bike was a Red 2006 Suzuki SV650S and that the Lane County Sheriffs did not know the identity of the rider yet.

I heard this news on OPR ths morning. I hear of people dying all the time, especially on motorcycles but for some reason this one made me think more then usual. I know we all (the majority of us anyhow) have gone over 100+ on these crazy bikes (it is seriously hard not too most of the time). Lets make sure to pick responsible places and times and please...like stated previously, life is the most important asset any of us has to lose - it really aint worth it to gamble.
Condolences to the riders family and friends. RIP. Safe riding all.

Very sad. A good example of where stupidity could take you... The fast lane to the morgue.

First thing I would think, STOLEN BIKE. Anyone in their right mind would not ride without one.

I heard it was a friends bike that he was on. I can't believe that someone would be going that fast without a helmet. I got on my bike without one going 25 and I'm glad I got up and walked away.

So sad for his family and friends. Especially the one who let him ride the bike.
I heard he had a lot of priors and no endorsment. Dang , people can be stupid. Maybe he wanted to go this way. We'll never know now.
I feel for the motor trooper too. I undersatand he is having to be reviewed for following procedures etc. What a drag.
My heartfelt thoughts to all those that were effected.
Ride smart all.

He ran because he didn't have his endorsment. The bike he was on, was a friends not his. Got the story from a friend today he knows the fam .

How would anyone know why he ran? He's the only one that would know and he died on impact...

MATT, I asked the same question. the guy i got the info from said the familly is pretty sure that was it, he had no other reason to run according to them. I am sure they know him good enough to call that.
I don't care why he did what he did, he ran and now is dead. end of story
