The guy who hit is in big trouble I am sure. Who knows, It could have been the same one I saw riding in a torrential downpour when I was in Roseburg yesterday.....

I hope the guy is okay. Interesting choice of the words "dead stop" by the reporter. I bet the cotton top had to change his depends after he saw who he had hit!

The call originally came out as a head-on crash. I'll have to call Dan and see what the skinny is...

OK, talked to RPD Sgt. today, Cop is doing good, sore as hell, but nothing busted (must be younger than Grampa Joe-Joe!!!). Got hit from the rear, spun so his leg got it between the car and bik, and then threw him off into the intersection. He was lucky nothing was broke.

The bike was no so lucky. Trashed one of the hard bags, all the crash guards on one side, case cover, and some other bits. The Sgt. said about $1000 damage..... I laughed at him.... I am thinking much more....

True. I myself have thought it would be a pretty cool job. I just dont know if it would mix with my lifestyle.

I don't know... I am kinda of the impression that if you make you hobby work, it's not as fun of a hobby any more... at least with this. I talk to alot of motor officers, and havn't found one yet that rides much, most not at all, off duty....just food for thought.....makes for an interesting conversation... post up your thoughts folks....

i personally would love to ride for work. it wouldnt matter to me. as it is now i dont get enough time to ride because of work. it would rule to be patroling the streets from two wheels. it would make catching drunkos and criminals that much more fun minus the fossil that hits you from behind, but that can happen to any of us. the motor cop i bought my latest bike from said he only took the auto when he had the family otherwise he was on a bike every chance he got. sounds like hes the rare one. ive always secretly fantasized about being a law enforcement officer(no longer secret) and to get to do it on a bike would be the cats balls. those folks have got real riding skills for sure.

They are skilled... Funny thing, I talked to a motor instructor, and he said the people that do the best in the training, are first time riders!!! Kinda interesting...

makes sense because they havent had all that time to learn and perfect poor riding habits. my msf guy said the same thing that the hardest riders to teach were the guys that have been riding 20 years..
for me personally, i would love to ride for work. im a 100 percenter and i do it or i dont do it at all. riding falls into that of course and any time on a bike is good.

I do totally hear what tlrmike99 is saying, but I still think it would be hella chill to be a motor officer. :rad: :ride: :cop-car:

I would love to be able to ride for work. I don't think that I would hate it after time, but one never knows. I don't know if I would love being a Motor Officer for a job, though. Seems like a lot of hard word dealing with cell phone distracted minivan drivers and tweakers everywhere. Probably not a lot of appreciation for doing a good job.
