Here's the goal for today.....Hope I'm not turning it into a torture rackhttp://eugenesportbike.com/forum/images/smilies/newsmilies/eek.gif

From the looks of it, these will move the bars down about 2 inches and forward about an inch or so. And they should help shave a couple pounds off the old girl from the huge stock ones.http://eugenesportbike.com/forum/images/smilies/newsmilies/yes.gif I'll get before and after pics and post the difference.

Bobby, you're a sick, sick man! Why do want to move the bars on a 900 RR DOWN and FORWARD? Isn't it torture enough already? I just thought it ironic that I saw this right after I finished modifying the aftermarket bars on my bike, which were orginally 2 inches or so higher than the stockers, but had about 30 deg. less sweep backward, so they had to go further forward to keep the switches, etc. off the tank at lock. I cut them and rewelded them to give them the same sweep as the stockers; now life is good. You're my hero for wanting the bars lower yet!!!!!

There are a couple of different reasons.
The previous owner cut and rewelded the stock ones so they sit higher. I dont fully trust the welds and the height of the bars took away any slack the clutch cable may have had, putting it right across the hole on the bottom triple clamp that my headlift stand uses. I'm tired of loosening the clutch lever everytime I want to lift it. And I'm hoping they might help in my never ending quest to finally drag my damn kneeshttp://eugenesportbike.com/forum/images/smilies/newsmilies/nerd.gif

I think My tank bag may become a tailbag soonhttp://eugenesportbike.com/forum/images/smilies/newsmilies/lol.gif
If they are too bad, I know an excellent fabricator.....we'll remodel 'emhttp://eugenesportbike.com/forum/images/smilies/newsmilies/yes.gif

Ah, that makes perfect sense. It's a relief to find that it's not some kinda wierd S&M thing. Just curious; do have aftermarket triple-clamps on it? When those bikes first came out they were found to be a little unstable at times and the fix was to give them more trail, using triple clamps with less offset.

I'm going to try a damper. If that doesn't slow down the steering enough, I heard a 2006 1000RR is a direct bolt up at the head tube......17 inch front wheel, inverted forks, bigger newer brakeshttp://eugenesportbike.com/forum/images/smilies/newsmilies/drool.gif

Well, back to the progress report. They are on. Not without some cursing though.
A huge thanks to Kelbor for saving the day, and bringing me the socket I needed for the headnut. You are the Man Kaylon!!!!
The bars are quite a bit lower, but don't seem too bad. Here are a couple before and after pics. Can't wait to try em out sundayhttp://eugenesportbike.com/forum/images/smilies/newsmilies/yes.gif

Sheeeet...When you go out and buy a socket and then just use it once you pretty beg someone to borrow it so you can at least somewhat justify the purchase . Any body need to borrow a torquerench or a 12 mil hex socket?
