2 Suzuki oil filters = $28.00, 6 qt. of Honda Gold HP4 @ $9.95 a qt. = 59.70, so thats $87.70 for oil changes on two bikes... got one more to go... CRAP....

Maybe if you have an unlimited specialty-tools budget. :smilewink

I am with you to a point, but I don't care how creative you are, there are some things that you just can't do without the right tool. And when that tool is specific to ONE bike, and cost more than the cost of taking the bike/engine to the shop and having them use the special tool, that is where I draw the line. I stipped my Thundercat's engine down, put it in a box and took it to the shop after busting a gear puller trying to take the magneto off. A couple mins and one special tool later, the mag. was off, engine was back in the box, and I was on my way home to continue the rebuild...

Regarding oil changes, with a little research and doing it yourself, you could save a lot of money.

Here's a little info if you're interested...

Just to clarify, I do the changes myself... that was just for the oil and filters.... But I got a thing about running factory filters... and the Honda Gold oil is tops in my book....it usually doesn't come two bikes at a time thouhg...LOL, just kinda shocked me at the counter.... Gonna have to try and space them out...

yeah if youre breaking stuff or hurting yourself 99 times outta 100 youre either doing it wrong or using the wrong tool..

...using the wrong tool..
...and when the right tool costs more money than you could ever save by doing the work yourself, that is when it is time to take it to someone that has the right tool.

Sometimes you can even make your own tools; I've done this on several occasions. But I agree with you, Tom; unless you'll do the same job more than once it's usually more cost effective to get it done by someone who has the tool.

Sometimes you can even make your own tools...Totally, that is what I am talking about.

I have made tools to work on each of my bikes thus far, and I expect to do the same with the R6. :victory-s

less bolts = less weight
less weight = more hp per weight ratio

Nothing like kicking a guy while he's downhttp://eugenesportbike.com/forum/images/smilies/newsmilies/mooning.gif

I have a left clipon coming from ebay, and a right side coming from a buddies project 900rr as a loaner till I can find another one. So at least I'll be able to ride it soon. Now I gotta hope the paintless dent removal guy can get this golf ball sized dent out of the tankhttp://eugenesportbike.com/forum/images/smilies/standcorner.gif

What happened, Bobby? Did you have a boo-boo? What size are your forks? If they're 45mm you're welcome to use my stock bars until you get another set. On second thought, if they fit, and you like 'em, and you want 'em, I'll sell 'em to ya cheap. I'll never put them back on my bike; I like the new ones too much.

I recently watched a video where they used DRY ICE to do that.

Thinking I could do that myself.
