Phase 1, the FI remapping I did just before Christmas was a huge success; afterward the 955i easily hoisted it's front wheel in 1st gear; this wasn't possible before the re-map. :) It grunts up through the gears now effortlessly, shifting at 6000-6500 rpm. That leaves another 5000 rpm or so available before redline if SERIOUS acceleration is needed. It pulls so hard through the midrange now it doesn't even feel like the same motor!

Phase 2, the gearing change done a couple weeks ago made it even nastier; 2nd gear power wheelies from 5000 rpm require only a thought and a partial twist. It had me giggling like the village idiot on my ride to the dentist Monday. It might even do it in 3rd, but I'm too chicken yet to try; I'll wait for warmer weather.

These are, IMO, two of the most cost-effective mods. you can do to a bike.

I've been wanting to re-gear the honda for a while. But I have no self control whatsoever, so making it wheelie better might be a bad ideahttp://eugenesportbike.com/forum/images/smilies/newsmilies/tongue.gif

Sorry, TAT2D's Mistress, but it's my belief that motorcycles are one of the most harmless things a guy can spend money on; just ask my wife!:wife [blonde]

Besides, I live by the motto "It's always easier to ask for forgiveness than to get permission".

I was thinking about gearing the GSX-R1000, but it already floats 3rd over rises, and I hate that it throws off the speedo so it reads faster than your going...so I guess I'll do stock when I change em out. But bang for the buck, -1 on the front is a cheap way to get grunt, at the expense of top end, but who really ever tops out the bike...

I guess what I am saying is, you would benefit all the time from the extra mid, and only a lil bit of the time if at all from top end...

Yeah, I went down one - up two and I love it. That ish is quick!! The offness of the speedometer does drive me crazy but it also keeps me safe - I am always thinking Im speeding so Im extra careful in more limited areas. A speedohealer or the Yellow box is aeasy solution if you have a extra Benjamin sitting around.

Luckily the Triumph uses a pickup on the front wheel, so about the only thing that will throw it off (further!) is a tire height change. I try to gear my bikes for a realistic top speed at or just below redline. This gives me all the acceleration possible from it. I only hit top speed twice on my last bike; once to establish a baseline, and once to test the changes. Disclamier: I don't condone or encourage riding more than 50 mph above the posted limit.

Ya I like going from 0 to ?? in seconds but I really don't want to redline in 5. At that speed if some thing goes wrong ?! you had better have one of thies:angel:

Hey Bobby; will those bars work?

I never even tried yours. The stock ones got here, and they were considerably lower than the hacked up set I was running before. Put those on, and I'm completely happy with themhttp://eugenesportbike.com/forum/images/smilies/newsmilies/yes.gif

Let me know when I can return yours, or you are gonna be headed this way. Thanks for offering them too. I really appreciate it.
