I've been shopping around for a new insruance company and it occured to me to ask here. So who are you with? How much do you pay per year? what kind of coverage to you have? Did you save anything for taking the MSF course, or having an anti-theft device installed?

When I was looking for insurance on the R1 I checked 3 companies... Keep in mind that I am female, and OLD...lol. (and at that time I had never had an insurance claim in my life). The results for me were...

All quotes were for full coverage... typical coverages on all (100/300 I think)

Progressive... $3,600.00 a year

Allstate.........$1,300.00 a year

State Farm.....$498.00 a year

Guess who I went with?... lol. BTW, they were really great to deal with after the accident also. My agent is Deanne Mathis...she's near Churchill High School..not too horribly far from your neck of the woods. :D

Good Luck with your search Mike!

PS... I can't remember for sure about a discount for the safety class. I took one but I'll have to ask if I got a discount for it. We never talked about anti-theft devices, so I have no idea on that.

The best insurance rates I have found for moto coverage are through Country Insurance. Don't know if you are still looking, but I would check them out. I have a moto wreck on my record, and my rates are still really low. I know they were way better than progressive. Plus, I have had really good luck with their adjusters and everyone who I worked with at Country. Very helpful. Very good people.

In my experience, State Farm is always the lowest, but you have to insure all your vehicles through them. If you have a claim, they typically raise the rates significantly or drop you.

I have State farm. They have been pretty good to deal with over the years(except when they cancelled my policy over a very expensive paint job on one of my show cars). IMO, the agent makes all the difference. If you have a good agent, they will bend over backwards to help you save money or push a claim through. just over $20 per mo. on the fzr. We also have our renter's and auto throught them, so I'm sure that's part of it (plus I'm an OLD guy).

While we are discussing insurance, my wife works for a personal injury lawyer, and if it was not for her I would not have known that you don't get personal injury protection included like with an auto policy. Bikes pay extra for it. I have heard horrible stories about people who were in a bike accident, and were way underinsured. If you aren't sure, check with your agent. Make sure you have additional PIP coverage. It really doesn't cost a lot more, especially if you ever need it.

Ok so I just got a quote from State Farm on Coburg Rd. for $264 a year for full coverage w/ $500 deductible. In comparison, I am currently paying Progressive $498/yr. for liability only with a $1,000 deductible.

What a difference!
Also, they have yet to require/ask for all of my other auto insurance to make this work. Might be worth a call if you are wondering how your insurance matches up.

I was told that my insurance rates with State Farm wouldn't go up after my wreck since I hadn't been with them long enough to get a "no accident" discount...so far so good, I haven't seen my rates go up. Hopefully that won't change.

It wouldn't be until your 6 month renewal - whenever that is...

I agree with State Farm. My agent is Heidi Pollock. She rocks and I have has a few claims with them but they never raise my rates. I think I paid $23 per month for full coverage with minimal deductible on the TL.

I would strongly recommend them.

So to follow up on my prior post......

I was quoted a great rate from State Farm and decided to proceed. When I finally get "approved" a week later, they come back and say I don't qualify for the preferred rate unless I want to bring all of my auto insurance to them. This ended up bumping the rate $100/year more than I was originally quoted however, was still less than what I was paying for liability only with the bare bones policy.

I have mine through state farm. When I first got my bike I called all the places I could think of to get quotes and state farm had by far the best. Im a 20 year old male and I had an '04 R6 that I just wrecked. I was paying $86 a month for full coverage with a $1000 deductible
