Took a quick run up Wolf Creek last night after we got home from visiting the in-laws.:bash: It was pretty good; only a few pebbles in the center of the lane here and there; nothing scary. I wanted to come down Siuslaw Rd., but a few hundred yards into it I thought I was riding across Delta Sand & Gravel's parking lot!!:wow8: It still has a lot of loose, small gravel on it. Be Aware!!

I think we are going to have to get a huge work party together and sweep off Siuslaw Rd ourselves... :frown: It never got swept off after they did all the work last summer.

Who do we have to :lick to get a road sweeper out there anyway??? :smilewink

Maybe we should petition the county to sweep it, expressing safety concerns not only for bikes but for cars as well. I wonder what their response would be....

OK, here's the 4-1-1 from your local message board 5-0..... Call the County Road Dept. and tell them you almost crashed IN YOUR CAR, WITH A LOAD OF KIDS AND NUNS.... OK, just tell them something like that and that your attorney advised to have you call them before you take further legal action... Don't mention the bikes..LOL... it will get swept......

Or we can say we were riding our Harleys down the road and the gravel made us slip and slide and it scared us so bad that we're going to cry to our lawyers about it!:crash: :mecry: :yell:
Hey, it worked for that patch on I-5, why not here too?

Wait, what did our Harley's do?

Love Wolf Creek. I hadn't heard of it until last summer. One of the best rides around.

Hmmm... I'll go with calling the county since I have the kids & minivan, and I supposed the nun(s) could be arranged, but I don't have an attorney standing by. I am pretty sure I could get the van sideways out there with little effort.

Welcome to discovering our great back roads!:ride: :rad:

The Harley thing...............Last Fall there was someone complaining about some grooves and patches on I-5 where they'd been diverting traffic for the bridge repairs. He claimed to have nearly crashed and such stuff. Even got an article in the local rag about this "Very Dangerous" piece of road. Many of us had ridden that same piece and thought very little of it. Just a matter of common sense and paying attention. We kinda figured this person probably had low tires or such.:idunno:

Any way the tax payers ended up paying a chunk of money for repairs on that little problem.
Seemd ludicreous to most of us.

that's all.

that's all. :tongue:Gotcha, I noticed that got fixed. Not particularly sure how one would almost crash there because of the road, but what do I know. Probably a bagger that spilled Starbucks on his lap while fiddling with his satellite radio and riding over that particular stretch.

I'm very sad that they have ruined Siuslaw Rd. What a waste of tax-payers money. It was in great shape before they "fixed" it... even if they do ever sweep it, they did such a crappy job with the chip seal that there are bad grooves all over it anyways. Someone needs to get smacked for that job...:nutkick

Or better yet, we should go to the papers, and report how the tax payers got hosed. Someone got paid to do that piss poor job, and they should have to pay for the POS job they did! :yell:

Letter writing time people! :nerd:

Someone needs to get smacked for that job...:nutkickThe grooves I can cope with. It's the sudden and almost complete loss of traction that gives me issues. But you're all correct; it's a half-assed job that the contractor and the county should be help accountable for. My personal convictions won't allow me to go on TV and piss and moan about it and declare to the world that I'm a helpless victim, but I do think as many of us as are willing should make our complaints known to the county. :yell: If only I could remember to do that during the week......

I'm willing to help in any way. Maybe if we ALL call it would really make a difference. If its needed I do have a lawyer on hand :) but hopefully it just gets fixed/swept. If any help is needed I'm here too! Maybe one of us should write up something to send to the county and take it to bike night for signing...could get lots of signitures and phone numbers that should do the trick if nothing else will.

Rode Siuslaw/Wolf Creek Monday afternoon. Lots of wet, but alot more of it was dry than I expected. There's some logging on Siuslaw mucking up a few small stretches of the road. Not too many more runs left on this loop I'm thinking... the fir needles are starting to pile up on the sides of the road and the leaves are just starting to fall. It was good to actually be ON the bike again though... wet or dry.

It's still in good shape. Gravel around a few logging sites, but the road is pretty much dry and clear. Steve and I rode it twice today
