I'm happy to say I did my first track day yesterday. Not only was it a blast, but I learned more there about my limits and the limits of the bike than I would have ever explored on the street. Not to mention that my perspectives on speed have changed dramatically.:yes: I highly recomend the experience for anyone that hasn't tried the track. I met lots of great people too.

Addiction is the right term for it. I'm already plotting a way to get a dedicated track bike. It's not too realistic for me right now with fatherhood just around the corner, but some day I will have one. :)

way to go Matts! I had mine today. heres how it went,

As I told one instructor, it was better then sex! lasts longer too

Just wanted to learn today. conditions at PIR couldn't have been better, and the new surface is the bees knees. at the end of the day, last session there were only a handful of us in C group that wanted to go out. personal instruction by two great coaches had me moving smother and faster then I had all day... or ever for that matter. at least 3 instructors were riding RC51's, and seeing them handle the bike just made it easier to be confident. second to the last lap of the last session, I was coming around the final turn, T9, just trying to hit all the right lines, and scraaaapppeee!!!! holy sh!t!!!! that was my knee dragging!

2 time AMA champion Jimmy Moore said I made great improvement in that one session. best day I've had in 10 + years of motorcycling. Hands down

only one crappy thing. Tie down broke in the U-haul, and the ol girl came loose and fell on her side. I was too happy to make a big fuss though. just a broken brake lever, and a few scratches in some 7 year old body work that needs to be repainted anyway.

Safe to say, I'm fully addicted now.

Peace

PeaceNice job getting your knee down.

I didn't drag my knee, but I'm certain I was very, very close.....:rolleyes: What I did do was to finally use the tires edge to edge. It was the first time I'd ever gummed up the tires to that degree. I can't wait until next time.

No worries on the no knee down. Just something to look forward to for next trackday. :victory-sYah, probably next time. One funny thing is that I deliberately slowed down for the last two sessions so I could focus on getting the lines down and getting my inputs smoother. And just like the instructors said, I actually got quicker through the corners. ....duh.:nerd:

yeah, in the last sessions, I was just trying to get smother. the knee down was by no means a primary goal for me, just a side benefit. to tell the truth, it scared the hell out of me when it happened. I am so addicted now.:lets-eat:
