It's 11:25, and we just arrived home from a trip to Florence. It was about a two and a half hour trip, both ways, but so very worth it. The drive down the scenic coast was pleasant, and beautiful. The sky was a soft beautiful blue that faded into the horizon, and you couldn't hardly tell where the ocean met the sky. The sun warmed the cliffs of the cape, in gorgeous shades of oranges, pinks, mixed with the green of the vegetation.
I followed man and machine part of the way, and it was a beautiful sight to behold. I was brought to tears with the sheer beauty of how they flowed and danced together on the continuous curves of asphalt sea. I could catch the random wave of warm throaty sound of a Raven in flight in a happy journey home...
Love is flowing, and beauty abounds in the fantastic dance of Man, and Machine...

Now its my turn ....
So we FINALLY get to Florance at like 6:45 pm and they are supposed to close at 6:00. I had spoken with Joanna before hand to inform her that wed be a bit late getting there, and she said that was fine and shed wait for us.
We get there and there's a note taped to the door saying something along the lines of "Mike, we went to deliver a bike and will be back ASAP. Joanna." And through the window, there she sat just a few feet away! It was torture waiting for them to get back! But about 15 minutes pass by and they arrive back at the store, and we get the paperwork signed and done. I have to give HUGE thanks for florance Yamaha! They really went the extra mile in getting the bike serviced and ready to ride before we got there. Apparently they normally wont do that until the money has changed hands and the paperwork has been signed. Great bunch of people to work with! And we got the bike out the door for about a Grand less than MSRP!
First Impressions:
I wheel the bike out the door and into the parking lot and Im thinking to myself, "Damn! this bike dont weigh anything!" Get the ol' gear on and start her up. (Have to remember that with fule injected bikes, a little throttle isnt needed to start it up. lol) Damn it sounds good! But what would you expect from Yamaha's Flagship bike?
I follow Kris out of the drive way and notice how smoothly and effortlessly the bike shifts gears, and how supple and non twitchy the clutch is! Nothing like what I had imagined at all. This bike is light, nimble, and smoooooooth!! Mind you, Ive been riding the ol' Thundercat for about 4 years now. But going from that bike to this is like going from a harley to a 10 speed in flickabillity! It just goes so well. You look where you want the bike to go, and its doing it. I did catch myself up at about 80 mph a couple of times and it seemed like I was only doing 50 mph. Saw that I was only at 4,000 on the rpm's and realized that I still had another gear left! Gonna have to keep an eye on that one. The ride back up the coast was a bit cool. but awesome none the less. As I rode and got more and more used to the bike, the more pleasure it was to ride it. Just smooth in every respect! I can hardly wait to take it out on a sunday group ride!
We havent gotten insurance on it yet. will have that tomorrow. so for now it was brought into the house for safe keeping! lol. Here are a few pics of the day. Thanks for letting me share our excitement with all of you!
