OK Peeps, listen up.

I felt I needed to throw out a reminder to everyone. I consider many on this forum family, and I would hate to see anyone hurt (or worse).
I Know it's summer and all we want to do is ride, but don't forget to give your bikes a good once over every few rides or couple weeks. check the fluids, tire pressure/condition, brakes, check for any leaks, etc.

I had a scary moment last night when I put the bike up on stands to take the rear wheel off for a new tire. I spun both wheels to check for nails, wear, check bearings, etc. When I spun the rear, it seemed to have a spot where it was catching slightly. Further inspection revealed that I had 5 or 6 small cracks coming out of the vent holes across the surface of the rotor. I shudder to think what could have happened at speed if the rotor had broken.

So please, take a few minutes, and just check it out.

Okay I'm done now

I agree! I'll definitely be following that advice from now on. On the way to Crater Lake it occured to me that I hadn't checked my tires ( or anything else) before we left, and we've been putting lots of miles on lately... my rear tire was pretty close to bald. Spent half a day of our trip getting a new back tire put on... ack! :wow8:
