I have heard so much about the air adjustable helmets does anyone know much about these?
It doesn't have to be pretty so long as it keeps everything that's inside the helmet from spilling out lol. There for I was posting here to know what the best brands are?
Any ideas? I will be putting a lot of miles on my bike (when I finally get it) so I would like it to have some aspect of comfort but safety rating is top for me. So feel free to throw some ideas my way! Thanks guys :yes:

i just rode with someone whos got one of those. i think the most important thing in helmets is that they are the right fit for you. any where in the middle to upper end will be good to better. i put one of the scorpion pump ups and the thing was very comfy in the ear area. ive gone through a few hjc upgrades and now on to scorpions. they work for me. i also dont think you need to spend 1000 dollars on a helmet to get a good one. i would got to where they are many brands to pick from and try them all on. a touch snug for break in but never too tight or too loose. asking which brand is best is like asking whats the best tire. its all different. find one that fits you best. (but speaking of brands, id stay away from those 39.95 specials like vox or vision etc..) and when in doubt pull the liner up and look at the date of manufacture. make sure your new helmet is actually new.. good luck!

I have been looking at a few in the area.. I dont think I am going over a 600 but I would like to not go under a 500 either.
I was looking at a CBR but have not been able to sit on one and get a feel. Its not going to be till the start of next year/summer till I get it, which gives me time to save up and gear up, take the classes and such. However, I would still like to shop around, sit on a few and see how they feel.
Im 5'3 so its more the issue of being able to touch down comfortably. I have been looking at and talking with a few guys about lowering options that dont alter too much.. We will see I suppose.

I’m looking to get a new helmet maybe the RX-7 Arai-Corsair. I know it’s an individual choice as per fit and such. My question is there any I should/shouldn’t consider. Has anyone bought a helmet that was rated high only to find it wasn’t what you expected? Wind noise ---- fit ---- durability. Any input would be appreciated.

I bought a Schuberth a while back, and didn't really care for it (despite it having a ton of excellent features and being easily the quietest helmet I've ever used). Physically, it was just larger all around than I prefer (I still have it and would make you a FANTASTIC deal on it if you wanted - you could even try it out for a while prior to buying!).
After that, I went back to my staple: Shoei RF-1000. It's a bit more noisy than I would prefer, but I use noise blocking ear buds for my radar detector now effectively negating the noise issue. I went down in my previous RF-1000 and it held up very well. They are also light weight and aerodynamic, and have what I think is the EASIEST shield changing system ever. I will be very sorry when they stop making them...

They're going to stop making them??? I love my helmet!
And if I may contribute, I may be looking for a second helmet just in case of a passenger... any ideas/suggestions?

It's the SC2, and I have NO IDEA what size your head is! LOL The EXTERIOR diameter of the helmet I was referring to! :)

I have a RX-7 and love it. It's comfortable enough that I forget it's even on. As a downside it is very loud at 60+, as in it will be drown out the sound of the bike. However, I wear ear plugs so it isn't an issue with me. Try one one and wear it around as Arai has specific head shapes for each helmet line--I believe the RX-7 is a "Long Oval". The visor isn't as hard to change out as everyone says, it's quite easy to take off and replace once you figure it out--or are shown. Regarding fit, the cheek pads will be overly large at first but will break down over time, base the fit on the rest of the head. I hope this helps and see the attached link.

I know I'm revisiting an extremely old thread, but I have an answer to the initial question posed;
http://www.mxsouth.com/street/scorpion/scorpion-helmets-exo-1000-rpm-helmets_2.jpg
I purchased the Scorpion 1000 RPM helmet after my last crash. It has some pretty cool features. The first is a tinted visor under the face shield that drops down or hides away with the flip of on outside lever...pretty handy when riding into the evening sun. Lot's of ventilation at the front/top and mid-rear of the helmet creates gobs of airflow for hot weather. The air-pumped cheek and ear pads allow for a custom fit your not going to find no matter how many helmets you try on, and the custom fit dramatically reduces wind noise, even at 80 mph (I-5 tested). It's a little heavy when compared to some of the top line helmets I tried over the years, but only slightly, and the trade off for fit and comfort is worth it...in my opinion at least.
I'm not doing a sales pitch for Chaparral, I didn't buy my helmet there, but here is a video they made;
