This last June my family recieved word that one of our members has Luekemia. This was completely unexpected and obviously a shock.
Luekemia can not be cured. It can be treated with Chemo and hopefully kept at bay. There are several types of blood cancer and some are far more aggressive then others. Fortunately our case is one of the mildest forms of this disease.:o
As a result of this news I felt spurred to do the yearly "Light the Night" walk in downtown Eugene and try to help raise funds for research and patient support. We'll be walking this coming Saturday Oct. 4th in the evening.
If you are able to help with this cause please do. I know there are hundreds of choices in how we help others and ourselves. Whether it's the homelss on the corner or the letter in the box. I do believe that what we do returns to us two fold and hope that you are able to donate even a little bit to help fight this disease. If you're unable then I wish you happiness and good health and thank you for your good thoughts.

Thanks, Kersti aka FJMam :smilewink

People start gathering between 6 and 7:00 pm. I believe they want everyone to pre-gister on line. You can use the sight I supplied.
Pepsi and Pizza Hut are some of the sponsors. The walk itself begins ar 7:30 or 7:45.

Yeah, so what if its raining. situation normal.

Thanks for asking.

Did I miss you NC?
It was a real good turn out. Very relaxed. I'm guessing 200 people???
I'll be doing this next year as well. Perhaps we can do a team walk. This year i walked with 5 friends.
Thanks to all those that donated to the fight against blood cancers. My sight alone raised almost $500!!
Good news for your cousin is that survival rates are getting better every year. It's a tough row to plow and I wish them the very best in their fight and future.

No you didnt miss me. I came down with a violent migrane and was in too much pain to do anything. I really need to go get them checked. I lose complete sight when I get them and no pain killers even remotely help....ahhh they suck. lol

Im glad the turnout was good though. Thats awesome you raised that much! You'll be seein' me next year. :D

So, did you get an appointment yet? No sense suffering if something can be done about it. I know these things can be totally debilitating.
Take care of it OK?
