View Full Version : Winter "bike" nights

So I've become bored with sitting around on pretty much all Friday nights by myself, watching movies and waiting for Ticker to get to Eugene. A few years ago we extended bike nights through December and did all kinds of fun stuff (bowling, ice skating, rock gym, mini golf, roller skating, shooting :clapping: ... we never did make it to shoot pool tho:wow8: ). Due to my crazy hours it is really hard for me to stay up late on Thursday nights:pooped:, but I was wondering if people would be at all interested in doing some stuff on Friday evenings/nights? I know financial times are tough, but I'm thinking we could come up with some fun and cheap stuff... Midnight frisbee? Urban hiking? Rollerblading the parking garages :smilewink (til ya get caught) Tasting weird foods for fun?... Just throwing out some crazy ideas. Post up with some other fun ideas we could do if you're interested.

Pumpkin carving would have to happen fairly soon I guess.. Did you want to shoot for a date to do that? Let me know :bounce:

If anyone wants to do pumkin carving, we could do it at my place tomorrow night... unless someone wants to do it at their place... I'm open to that too. I just brought home two pumkins today. Cash and Carry off Bertleson has them for $2.88 each:wow8: ! I even bought some real woodcarving tools for the job.
Putters would be awesome sometime too! :clapping:
Dinner is always good! I'm not a picky eater, I'm usually up for just about anything....anyone like sushi by any chance? I've been craving it and its been months since I've been. :lets-eat:

What should we do this week?
I have the "Twist Of The Wrist DVD"... informative, but also good for a few laughs if we want to do a video night one of these fridays. Maybe we could pair it with a motorcycle movie or something...

The trivia night is alot of fun :) Bring out your inner nerd i used to go there alot last year. Good beer too its the Rogue outlet and of course its right downtown so those that want to drink their fill after words just have to walk a couple blocks for 10 different bars. If i can make it, thats my pick :)

NO silly, a Speakeasy was an underground bar where they went to drink during prohibition....back in the 20's! That sounds like fun... I might even come up for that.... Could we do this one after Nov. 1, as I would have Fri-Sun off then, easier to get there on time with no work...

I was out of town last weekend, visiting with a member of our ESB extended family :ride:  (pictures to come...). So now that I am back, lets plan to do something this Friday! Anyone down for some Urban Hiking, or parking garage rollerblading(fruit-booting) / sk8boarding? Weather should be fair to decent, so why not enjoy it. :victory-s
If interested post up.
If you have other suggestions for fun activities, post them. But lets wait for the really bad weather before we start planning any indoor activites. I would like to keep all of us as physically active as possible during the "off season." That way everyone will be all the more ready when next season rolls around. :rad:

I would normally be into it! ...except I'm taking my old dog on an adventure this weekend. Not sure where we'll end up, but he's 13 1/2 and starting to go downhill fast, so I decided to pack him up in the van for one last road trip (besides to the vet every week!) and spend some quality time with him. AND its supposed to be great weather this weekend so I won't have to worry about driving thru snow!

whats got you so haggard??Got 4 hours of sleep, then had to work, which included going up to Salem for a discussion forum. My coworker who was scheduled to drive was sick and bailed, and got the times a little screwed up. So I had to work threw my lunch break. I have a heightened metabolism, and when I don't get to eat, my body gets mad at me. :nutkick

I've got to take a math placement test on Monday... ugh... Not my best subject. Unfortunately I'll be studying math all weekend :mecry: In between buying a new car. :yell:I suggested climbing yesterday, cause I am going up to Ptown this weekend. My buddy is moving back to Thailand. So I am trying to kick it with him, before he leaves. I think I will be going back up to Ptown next weekend, as well. But after that my weekends are free again. I would love to take a stab at the columns. :bounce:
 What's wrong with the Lexus? Or is the question, what's not wrong with it. Hope you get a sweet ride. Remember dealerships are HURTING for sales! So you have a huge amount of leverage to get a good price.
(Start of rant....)
Suggestion 1:
Not to be a sexist a$$ hat, but you might want to bring Ticker into this. Not because he is any better at negotiating than you, but because he is an impartial third party. Dealers hate to deal with someone who is not emotionally involved in the purchase. When push comes to shove, over price, Ticker can be your immovable object. The dealer will plead with you, but they can't really use the emotional hooks on someone who won't be owning or driving the vehicle. Unless you are very comfortable 'working' a deal, I would suggest this to anyone buying a vehicle from a dealer or private party.
Suggestion 2:
Not to get into the nitty-gritty too much, but you should take some time to work a deal (if you have time.) Give the dealer a low-ball or just under what you are willing to pay (that leaves wiggle room for them to get you to give a little, so they can give a lot!). They will most likely not go for it. So that is when you LEAVE! (Leaving is a powerful tool to use) But not before they get your name and phone number "just in case they can work something out." They will most likely call you back the next day. Hold your ground. Explain how, "that is the only price you have to work with."
Suggestion 2: (subsection A :nerd:  )
Can't stress enough: always be willing to leave. And you should leave. You should not buy a vehicle the first day you go and see it. Take time to make a good logical decision, and work out the best deal. It's never good enough until you are absolutely happy.
:2cents:
(Instead of simple posts, I always seem to end up writing entire books on the silliest things. )
P.S. Good luck on the math test.
