Help ESB upgrade it's software and pay expenses.

As one of the "originals" on this forum I feel the need to help it thrive. I have found so many great people here and gone on some awesome rides with this group of folks. I can't say enough for how my life has been enhanced through this forum. It's been great for humor, information, venting and supporting people in need. I know that I have a huge extended family of brothers and sisters here and I hope that they know that I am here for them.
I set up a poll to see what people would like to do to help financially to get our upgrades. Please respond only once. This is a multiple choice poll, and by all means add your own ideas to the mix.

Kris has been great to maintain our cyber home away from home and I sincerely THANK her for that favor.

Its my understanding from Kris the upgrade it like $160 per site. I suggested say $10.00 per person. I do this with a back site I frequent

I think $10.oo every now and then is a BARGAIN!

No time line. I just know that the subject has been floating around and wanted to draw some attention to it.

I have the poll up for 14 days.

I believe it's to help stop all the spam that Flyte and Jane Honda deal with and I hope it'll give us other goodies too.

So......I've bounced this idea off a few others and it seems like a more fun and possibly interesting approach. Something that could be purchaed all year long as a gift or what ever.

The upgrade is to give the forum more security about the spammers, and to have access to tech support and software upgrades.

Dan and I, (I think Flyte at times, too) spend a lot of time going through and checking new members and making sure they are legit and deleting the ones that aren't. Occasionally, a bad one gets through, and then they post up inappropriate shit that my kids have almost seen looking over my shoulder.

That is not ok with me, and if the spammer was within swinging range, they would find their faces on the other side of their asses.

I want to make sure that we are safe from that bullsheet, and have access to the latest and greatest as far as software is concerned.

Also, not have the problems that we have been having with the sites going off...

*Sorry, just saw this

The upgrades to the software would be noticed IMMEDIATELY by anyone using the forums. First adn foremost it would fix teh user cp issues. The current version of php is not compatable with this version of the forum software, that is what caused the cp problems. Second speed and functionality would be severaly increased There are many new features and functions released with each version and IIRC the current software is at least 10 versions old. Finally it would make the registration process harder for spambots to do cutting the time and headaches that admin level members (mostly Kris and Dan) have to spend everyday.

If there are any questions you can PM or email me directly and/or Bobby (tat-2d), Keshti, and Kris all know how to reach me.

Thanks Keshti. I've already pledged 20% of the total costs so I'll add your check to the total. Once I get the goal amount I'll back everything up and set aside a saturday to do the upgrades. I'm eager to see the new toys I can give you guys to play with.

:rad: :bounce: Hey kids,

If you're like me you've been making friends and going on great rides through this great little forum. We'd all like to see it perform better and offer more goodies, wouldn't we?

If at possible, see if you can throw some spare scratch at it to show your appreciation, OK? :2cents: :2cents: :2cents: :idunno:

Just sayin'.

If you're wondering, I have no connection with the team that runs this sight except as friends, just like you. I just think it would be nice if this sight was updated. Kersti

OK boys and girls. Things have forced our hand and we will be upgrading soon. Thank you to those who donated.

There are alot of details to be worked out regarding recent legal issues Please PLEASE everyone make sure you have a VALID email address on file. If you have not yet joined www.oregonsportbike.com (http://www.oregonsportbike.com) PLEASE do so now. I will explain all very soon but for now make sure you have a valid user account there. *I may have to integrate both forums there*

If you have any questions (I suspect there will be many) you can email me at flyte_risk@oregonsportbike.com This is all due to recent developments that will be explained later, for now just register or keep track of developments there as that is where new info will be posted first.

I haven't been on OSB for a little while, so not sure when this started... :idunno:

It's a long story that isn't over just yet......

Quick answer is for OSB to use the "forum jump" menu at the lower right corner of the page. You can also use the "new posts" or the "Todays posts" functions. Everything is there (mostly, since I had to go back to an old back up of the database) it's only the forum index thats hosed.
