Stunting is no joke. You are throwing around a 350+ lbs. metal machine. If it falls on you, you are going to get hurt! So gear up. Good FULL FACE helmet, back protector, ankle covering boots, jackets, pants, gloves, and check the ego at the door (at least until you have half a sense of what you are doing).
Other than that, best luck learning some cool $#it to come back and show us.
Hope things are going well for you man. Keep in touch.

Expect to pay $130+ for a full spine. Think of it like a helmet, not something to skimp on the quality to save the price.

i think you had a bday in the last couple of days, if so happy day.. if not, save it for next time. anyways... if its been stunted before id look out for what kind of shape the bike is in, like for ie. its weld points, things that would take the hit, nuts and bolts missing. i mean, most all bikes look good in pics but you certianly dont want someone elses problem.. ron where are you?? best of luck!

Learn rear brake control...invest in a rear hand brake set up and also....!!!!!!!! Learn to bail! Getting yourself away from the bike in a hurry when sh** goes wrong will save you more head ache than you'll ever know. Possible a good steering stabalizer...for long distance stoppies. Remeber to..the bike with that gearing wont even know your on it...lol respect it or it will chuck your ass right off. Have fun man!!

check the fork seals. if he rides like me and ron do, then make sure that there all good. it could be pretty pricey to rebiuld both complete forks:thumbup:

my roomate was saying the the R6 have really weak subframes and if you hit the 12 bar the frame just pops up pretty much.

is he an engineer? moto frames should not pop!!! is this the only stunt bike youve been looking at or have you your eye on any others? for 4 grand you could get something and do your own 12 bar, cage and sprocket set up. what else is on the bike that makes it a stunter??? did you come to this particular bike or did it come to you?? (am i being too paranoid??) :idunno:

the bike kinda came to me. i guess a bit of both. but any way. after talking to him. i asked him if the sub-frame has ever broke when he hit the 12 bar and he yes, and that the bike is on its 3rd sub-frame so now im kinda sketchy about buying it. and my roomate was also saying he could find me nice stunter for about 2-3k maybe less. so we'll see how things work out.

The R6 is a race bike through and through. Shave weight where ever possible, that means lightening up the subframe, as well. It is only as strong as it needs to be, to support rider and passenger.

Wouldn't that be applied to most if not all sport bikes? Therefore, shouldn't you consider them all to be relatively weak since they were never meant to really be stunted and are race oriented.
The only way I can ever see having a weak sub frame being a concern is if you were doing 12 O'clocks. In which Ryan's case, would be some time away.
Not dissing stunting. I just think you could look at just about any bike and consider it for stunting. I know the F4i is the stunter's preference, but hey look at Ron and his R6.

A wise man once told me (when i was 12 and on my first bike) when you think your in complete control of your bike..........stop, get off, and walk. ;-)
Take care!

Yeah, you are correct, in that no production sport bike is purpose built for stunting. Or really even with stunting as a secondary use, for that matter.
But there are going to be differences in bikes that make them more or less able to deal with the unique requirements of stunting. So not all bikes are equal.
And the R6 being the high strung (lots of top end power, lack of torque on the bottom and mid) race bike that it is, it really isn't a great choice for stunting.

A big rear sprocket will fix that though. As for strengh...have you ever rode with Ron? I'm sorry but he's probably jumped that thing off of like a million curbs and set down several million wheelies on top of that, haha!
Like KnightReiteR said, a weak sub frame will not be a problem if you're stunting unless you're doing 12 o'clock's. But then if you're that into stunting you will have most likely reinforced the stock sub frame or built a new on:yes:

Actually, a larger rear sprocket does not change the horse power or torque curves of a bike engine. All it does is change the final drive ratio. A bike that makes its power in the high RPMs, will still have to be run in the high RPMs to make power. No matter what size sprockets it has on it.
...a weak sub frame will not be a problem if you're stunting unless you're doing 12 o'clock's...
It was my understanding that we were talking about doing 12 o'clocks. There really isn't anything else that would damage a subframe. :idunno:

As I understand this all went a little off topic... It all started with Ryan looking to get a stunt bike...
Here you talk if R6 is a good stunt bike or not...
As I see it:
If you really looking for a second bike to stunt you should get an f4i or 636, because they are well respected by stunters not by mistake, and if you go to stuntlife forum parts sections you will find tons of stuff to buy for them and cheap, so they are real easy to get all kinds of parts for... They are actually also very cheap to buy as whole prepared stunt bike there too...
BTW it's a real fact that stunters don't like R6s because of that weak subframe, other then that never heard anything bad abut them
On the other hand if you already have an R6 or any other bike and you a big fan of it and don't want to trade it or to get second bike for stunting, then go ahead and stunt what you have... get parts... make 2 versions of the bike (street and stunt)... reinforce subframe or anything else...
I don't think that Ron is(was) doing 12 o clock wheelies(yet) so it's hard to say how his bike will take that... but it does great what it is asked to do right now and holds up good:rad:
And I think that weak subframe is mainly said about 03+ R6s
It was my understanding that we were talking about doing 12 o'clocks. There really isn't anything else that would damage a subframe. :idunno:

Correct. That's why what you quoted doesn't really apply, until you read the sentence after the one you quoted. Pretty easy to reinforce them or straight up build a new stronger one.
My bad on the whole torque/horsepower thing though. You're right I was just reading through what was written earlier and misread. lol

ok so things came up and haven't gone to plan i know this is an old post that i posted a while back and probably didn't look at it for sometime until now and saw how many posts it had gotten. so the plan of action for a stunt bike pretty much to just wait till i get home to eugene. which wont be till april, but i guess its better to learn later than never right? so i hope all is well back home, miss it a lot, and cant wait to be out of this city. as of now i am counting down the months. but all in all i am having a lot of fun in school. ride safe everyone. cant wait to say home sweet home.
