Ok I'm giving the thought of doing the 520 conv. on my ride. I wanted to get more input on this. I have talked to a few people about it. I know the cost to do it is way cheep. But how long do they last. I'm not looking to do any 3rd gear wheelies. so not going to want to change the gearing much. So post up please :victory-s and put your:2cents: in..

I need new chain and sprocket set. And the525 chain is about 130 just for it. But I can buy the hole 520 kit for 160. But I just don't know how they hold up.

maybe its just my love of stock and/or oem, but id keep saving until you can put what it desires/requires. it may not seem like alot until it fails and that little ol five has cost you big. a place where you can save is going aftermarket sprockets. sometimes up to half. but then again, maybe its just me....
btw i am right in the middle of doing the running gear swap. oem all the way for me.
good luck finding what you need...!

520 is fine is you want to save weight by a lil bit since your going from steel to aluminum. As for saving money - they wear faster than stock so replacing sprockets will become habit. They are a lil bit cheaper, but unless you're gonna be on the track and your gearing up, then its not really that practical IMO.
However I bought a Driven 520 kit, but Im not practical either.

A 520 kit is a go-fast-goody.

Yep if you're not seriously into racing then you're basically down-grading big time.

Ok thanks to every one that has Posted up. I'm going to stay with steeles. just go down one in the front.
It does suck there are more sizes available in a 520...but If you ever want to go to a size you can't find (in the future, since going down one in front will be easy to find in the stock size)...check out Sprocket Specialists (http://www.sprocketspecialists.com/). They'll custom make anything and if anything cost less then the standard ones all bike shops sell.

I'm not sure about every year maybe I can get two years out of them if I take care of them.
