anyone know a good, relatively safe, place to top your bike out?

:wow8:...

How much gear do you have?

Understand that you will not walk away from any triple digit crash, if you hit even the smallest stationary object. I don't want to preach about what you do on your ride, but I am pretty nervous about the direction of this conversation... It takes a longer distance than most ppl really realize, to top out any vehicle, especially a bike. Keep in mind, even 150 MPH = 220.05 FPS.

You have already indicated interest in running some track days. Trust me, by the end of your first day, you will have gone 150+MPH down at least the front straight, so many times that you really won't care about straight line speed anymore.

The straights are for resting between the series of corners.

:2cents:

Happy riding, and hope to see you out on the track. :ride:

I have to agree on this!!! Those speeds don't give you anything... it's not even fun... I toped my bike and never going to do it again... just simply nothing special, nothing cool, not worth it too...
LoL but now I can say I toped it LoL the only plus of it... or minus... depends on whom you talking too LoL :blah-blah:blah-blah:blah-blah
And of course it was on a private road and couldn't endanger anyone around

sorry to the admin.
that question sounded more wreckless than it was intended. not endorsing in any way top speed runs on public roads.

I think your average winding ride to grandmas house has a higher probability of something unexpected to happen and/or hit than a 170mph speed run down a wide open, extremely low traffic, country bumpkin road that you can see for 3 miles and have checked for debris. you're just upping the potential consequences by increasing speed. fortunately, that potential decreases by f/r^2 where r is the distance from road to inanimate object(x) and f is a statistical function of human trajectory based on possible mechanical errors.

i just wanna see how fast the damn thing goes.

Don't we all. Its natural curiosity. We've all done it. So go try it, but don't kill yourself doing it. We don't want to read your obituary due to inanimate object(x) coming out of nowhere is all.

I did it on Marcola Road. Wouldn't suggest it due to deer and random chance that you might see 4 sheriffs in the process as I did. Good thing I live out here. *sigh

contrary to popular belief, I have never topped out my RC (it'll keep pulling well after 150 ). With a speedo healer installed to correct for adjustments, I know it will pull upwards 155 at PIR. I do not promise that I have been a saint. Half the guys here would call me b.s. on that. but I can promise you that after all the years of street riding, nothing compares to day at the track. just my 2 cents

Also, one important thing to remember, Tracks have run off... Roads do not. A wire fence will do nasty things at 90 mph (trust me on this!!) I shudder to think of what it would do at 150+!!!

Save save save, and do a track day.... Of course, I just found out I owe about $1600 in taxes... YIKES... so track days will be later in the summer for me this year!:standcorn

Was it something else?

The admin is very much a part of our community. They're not just geeks in dark little rooms playing god.

Yes the track is the safest place. It would be great if there was an abandoned landing strip we could play on but I don't believe there is such a place.

It's really strange what's going on here... I am pretty sure there is not a single person here, who is an angel LoL
We break the law everytime we go for a ride... technically 1mph over speed limit is not safe and very bad thing LoL
how about the formula for twisties? suggested speed times 2 plus 5 or 10mph on top of that to take the corner (for example 45mph corner is 45*2+10=100mph, or 40mph suggested corner is 40*2+10=90mph and so on)? that's way far from the speed limits and laws....
How about some people drinking and riding afterwords, that I've seen recently?

I am just simply saying that noone is clean here LoL that is why we have our fun... we all have our points of view of what is safe and what is not safe, like twisties or stunts or top speed checks...
For example I don't see anything bad in testing a top speed on the long straight road where you can see far ahead... just realize that when you take the suggested 35mph corner with 35*2+10=80mph speed you don't even know what can be waiting for you there... gravel, wet spot, dear etc and if something happens (and the chances are, in my opinion, much greater that something can happens here then on straight road)... if you crash in that corner also there are far more chances that you end up in guard rail or hug a tree or even hit oncoming car or even worse you hit oncoming biker... there is potentially way more harm you can do riding twisties... because you never know that's there behind that corner....

I myself love twisties and doing some wheelies sometimes and not really going for speed checks anytime soon, but I am just saying that there should be no double standards for people here, because we are all guilty, each in their own way LOL

But of course, them good good good roads are few and far between.....

In my post I was not trying to say that I am any kind of good example, I know who I am and my place, I do have tickets and paying them off... still :standcornLOL
It's just funny when I see double standards... And people trying to order, having higher status, to others to ride safe and legal, when they are not any better themselves

Let's see about your suggestion. Yes, I probably know few such roads and I love to ride them. And yes, it's going to be legal, but is it going to be any safer? It is still doesn't reduce the risk of you going down and someother people get hurt, but if legal is the only thing you worry about then it's cool...
And I want to see all the people here, that ride only on such roads and complete angels when not on them, I'll give those people a medal

The thing started here when someone said that it's not legal and started editing posts.... I say WTF, you no better yourself (just like most of people here), and that formula is just one of million examples when we brake the law
The other thing is safety, I say I think top speed run on clear and straight road seems relatively safer (of course if it's going to be on I-5 that's different) then just simply riding twisties
I am not saying it's a cool thing to run top speeds and I am not going to do it myself too, I personally love twisties and business parks lol

And yes I am really hoping I'll make it to the track this year!

The thing started here when someone said that it's not legal and started editing posts.... I say WTF, you no better yourself (just like most of people here),

When you are willing to pay my attorney fees and judgements you will have the room to talk. Untill then I can and will edit posts that open me to legal responsibilities. Having half of my in-laws as high end attorneys only gets me free legal advice, representation I have to pay for. How I react here is to protect myself and other staff. If you have an issue with that I can't help.

If you don't like it, I know of other forums.

Alex9101
03-16-2009, 11:14 PM
You could have closed the topic after saying something like, if you need info about such road do it off the forum....
Instead you left it open and "right" posts were allowed and "bad" were edited, by the way the second post about alwador is still there and your post about I-5 too id I am not mistaking, if you worry about the forum being legal you should delete them too, by the way where is Eddy??? Did he follow your advice and went WOT on I-5 following your advice?
Plus this whole section (Stunt) contains a lot of illegal stuff ;) , and as far as I understand it should be deleted completely, because stunting is not allowed on public roads and as far as I know there is no single private stunt place around here :shhh:

And I really like to talk to people (whom I mostly know personally too) here and I like this forum... If I would be a BSer that exists only online I would surely find another forum and BS people there. I just like things clear and honest

Holy, Moly..................

I think we have a bad case of cabin fever setting in here.:yell:

The problem with written messages is there is no way to know what the emotional content of it is, so it can be read any way by anyone.
R-666 I had no idea what admin had done to your post. I am surprised it was so strongly edited.
And yes, foul language isn't appropriate here and I'm surprised that someone felt they could change that rule for themselves and not for all of us.
"Holier then thou" certainly was not my intention. Hell, many of you know I catch up to the group eventually and that means I'm no angel either.

The beauty of this forum is the diverse group of riders we have and can hang out with. Only by riding with those people do we find out if they fit our own styles and comforts. That is why at times I do seperate myself from a ride. This is because either I don't have the skills, the balls or perhaps that wild hair to make the ride comfortable and enjoyable for myself. It's not because of the people. I haven't met anyone here that I wasn't comfortable around. That is why I invited one and all to my home. We had a good time and got along fine!

I'd say the request for high speed road suggestions was purely innocent and maybe the wording set someone off but there's no problem giving ideas to that rider. We also are concerned for everyone and that's why some of these remarks were made. We are a family here and have always been that way. We just don't want to hear about anyone getting hurt or worse. Last year we had more then a few incidents that brought sorrow and pain to many and we hope that none of this is repeated.

So, enough now..............PEACE OUT.............:blah-blah:blah-blah:blah-blah

Sincerely,
Auntie FJ
