I’m wanting have my suspension setup for myself. It's something that's long overdue. Would anyone interested in helping/teaching or should I just take it somewhere? I’ve read up on it and honestly would rather have someone that’s familiar with the process hold my hand. :idunno:

this is something you can do on your own with the help of a holder. you can do it!!

I'm no expert, but I'll gladly help you Will. Alternatively, I've heard that Clint at Cycle Parts charges very little to do it.

Last time I checked, the hosting site pulled it. It was good, so I have no idea why...

Living up here has it's advantages. I paid GP Suspension... well, ok, I didn't pay them, I tried to but they told me to split, that they were feeling generous that day.

Normally GP charges $40 for a full set up and worth every damn penny. True it's a "baseline" setup but they know their stuff so well i haven't felt the need to change anything.

That said you can do it yourself or take it to a general repair shop if a suspension specialist isn't available. If it was me my order would be Suspension shop, myself, service shop. More specifically, GP Suspension in Oregon City, Barry Wressell of GP Suspension North in the Seattle/Tacoma area (Comes to Portland alot) or myself then not at all.

Ask Turkey Baystr, he'll probably tell you the same thing, get it done. It's worth the $40 to have GP set it rather then the trial and error method when doing it yourself.

I agree that having a knowledgeable professional do it is worth the money. FINDING someone truly knowledgeable can be a problem though. I have heard great things about GP, and you are fortunate they are so close and convenient. Any suggestions a bit closer to Eugene?

As a good base line, I used sportrider.com recommended settings. I've tweaked very little since then.

I've heard Clint does a good job at it from a couple of people so you could have him do it.

Clint got me set up before my track day last year and it was worth every penny. Actually, I had new tires put on and he didn't even charge me for the setting the sag because total shop time was less than an hour.

For it to be set right you will want to show up in full gear. They need to set the static sag based on your (dressed to ride) weight.

also read every thing you can find in your owners manual
do a search for suspesion settings and surf the web and spotbike web sites and read it all
a basic set up make your bike behave better and your front and back work together
the tweaking and fine tuneing benafit you at higher speeds and stablize the bike
through corners and under heavey brakin and accleration

Not yet. I’m taking it in on Tuesday. Brian (Xusia’s) suggested I make sure they mark the stock settings before they make adjustments. Not sure if they would do that without asking but will make sure. I’m really interested to see how much of a difference it makes.

i think itd be cool for you to mark where it sits that way you can see what and where adjustments were made..

i got my settings from sportrider magazines suggested suspension settings site. then I had someone from gp suspensions fix it after the front of my bike almost started bouncing off the ground under hard braking. while he was setting it up he kept shaking his head saying how bad it was.

one thing he said was you never want it at one extreme or the other. sportriders settings had the front compression damping at full soft. so i donno. careful who ya trust i guess.

I had my suspension set today. The back was set really soft from what Clint said. Ran into Alex and went for a quick spin after it was complete. Definitely felt different. Wish it wasn’t raining would have hit Wolf Creek. Next sunny day I should be able to a better feel for it. $36 was the charge

So I went up Wolf Creek today. Wanted to test the setup and work on improving my cornering. Took a little getting used to and it’s defiantly not mushy feeling. It seems more responsive maybe it’s because I feel more of the road with the tighter setup? I had a great time even though I went solo :D
