The problem: Need a special tool to remove and re-torque the swing arm axle ring nut.
Yamaha's solution: Use their special ring nut wrench (translation : $$$ )
My solution: Make one. :smilewink
A $5 1-1/4 inch socket wrench socket, a Dremel tool, and some patience  ...

I haven't used it to take the damaged swing arm off yet, but I did torque test it to 70 foot lbs. The ring nut needs to be torqued to 68 foot lbs., so it should work great. :rad:

I recently fashioned a 25 dollar tool for removing my front tire for around 5 bucks at True Value. It really does feel good not being the tool who is wasting money on a tool any tool can make.
I liked it when McGyver put an egg in the shot to hell radiator to fix the Jeep, took the rubber off the tires with his picket knife, and then escaped from the Germans on the railroad track. He sure was handy with that knife and a potato too - urban legend has it that he could make hash browns with nothing but the previoulsy stated, a frying pan, some oil and salt and pepper - but then again, that is a urban legend

....or in Hollywood with the local minority. :twofinger
Seriously, you got mad McGyvor smarts - I saw that episode at least 15-20 years ago but he was always battling the "Cubans" or some revolutionist from south of the border huh?. Not to change subject but Duke Boys>McGyvor - Truth!
