Woman seriously injured in motorcycle crash
A motorcyclist was hospitalized Saturday night with serious injuries after colliding with a pickup truck on River Road near McClure Lane, the Eugene Police Department said.
Cailin Thompson, 20, was riding a Honda motorcycle north on River Road at about 7 p.m. when she collided with a Chevrolet driven by Victor Briggs, 61, who was southbound and turning left onto McClure.
Thompson, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. Her condition was not immediately available Saturday night.
There is no indication that high speed or alcohol was involved in the accident, police said.
Does any one know who she is?

Thanks Prgrss for posting the Facebook thing. I work with one of her buddies and he didn't know she had been hit.
I'm told by another co-worker that she is in very bad shape and may not make it.
I hope to find out more tomorrow about her condition and if there's anything we can do for her or her family.

that sucks. someone turning in front of me is one of my worst fears. I usually hit my brights and aim straight for their car for a second or two a good 150-200ft away, just to get their attention. then i slow down and try and anticipate a quick right hand turn to avoid a t-bone. hope to god i never have to deal with that.

Yep.. I had several close calls, involving motorist not looking, and then turning directly in front of me. With the last close call, I had the option of hitting the side of the car, which came to a complete stop, blocking both lanes of traffic, or squeezing between it's front bumber and an oncomming vehicle. I chose the later, which worked out, but would have been much worse had I not been able to pull it off. It was after that week that I got the Mohawk for my helmet, which believe it or not, seems to help, at least a bit. No matter how much you weave in your lane and flash your lights, some people are just oblivious, especially older folks.

I know I was really lucky. And really not every one gets that lucky! I know most of us have had stuff like this happen. I have been with the group for a year now and if some thing like this was to happen to me I know I can count on the people in the group to for support and caring. (well tigerrider would probably dog me and ask what I think I did wrong)..lol
But from what I know she is still in ICU. As for her condition i dont know.

I apologize for not doing anything with the information. I've felt awkward persuing this since I have no direct connection with Cailin Thompson and my co-worker hasn't been successful (if he tried) in contacting the family.
I think it would be great if we could help then in some way. Fund raise at bike night? I can offer $20.00 to start things off if someone wants to collect, or I could.
If there's a Facebook member that can use her sight to reach her firends and family that might work.
PM me or Stacy if you have thoughts or ideas.
Worries me that she hasn't recovered. So young and her first bike.

With all the privacy laws the hospital can't give out information about Callie Thompson the only thing that they can tell you is the room she is in and go up and see if she has family up there and go from there. the hospital number to call is 222-7300 and if anyone is interested in helping out then another thing to do is call the hospital at the same number I just listed and ask for the house supervisor and see what they have to say about getting some fundraiser going for her to help with her bills. Thats all that I can suggest at this time I can't do anymore than that do to the Hippa. I hope that this will help for the ones that really want to get something started.

AT this point it seems that we really can't go any further with this endeavour.
It's great that so many want to help but out of respect for the family and friends of Ms. Thompson and the fact that we haven't been able to make contact, I think it best that we just send our healing thoughts and prayers to them.
If anyone hears anything new from other sources please let us know. Otherwise we can only be there in Spirit.
thanks
