Geez, Jennifer. He may have been a squid, but the way that was written sounds very insensitive (and completely unlike you). No need to insult the dead IMO...

I am sorry but no where i that report does it say anything about gear people even die in gear. I have had a good friend die even though he was in full gear he just got tired and kept pushing and made a mistake that cost him his life. Sorry people but the gear will not help the sudden stop at the end of a slide or if you hit a tree with your head. Rip

True about the gear.! It can only help so far! But if your just wiering tie shirt and shorts your chances go way down. It is sad to here of some one dieing.

Look here Little Miss RoadRunner... Insensitivity around this joint is MY job and I won't have you trying to horn in on my action. mmm'kthxbye
That said ...Sad to hear anyone goes down and is injured or worse. Gear doesn't save you from serious bodily impact, it only helps keep your corpse ok for an open casket service. Without knowing what really happened we don't know if he would have been ok or not.
Still sad to hear of a rider losing his life.

whew! i was beginning to feel a bit stressed about it. i know my place and will return to it...
of course its sad when someone dies for some ridiculous reason. ive been watching this kid who im sure was a fine example of a human(idk) ride like a fool for some time. he blasted me on the freeway one day and had it been different, he might have hit me. i could have touched him as he went by. in all of the times i saw him riding(which were MANY) i never once saw him riding in any sort of way other than whacking the throttle, lane splitting, cut off riding, high speed etc etc etc etc. play with the sword and youre gonna get cut. if i sound insensitive(which i now know isnt my job, thanks Flyte) it may be that i have low tolerance for folks who ride in such a way and then die and then everyone gets in a big uproar about it. and it matters not that he was or wasnt wearing gear.
it was only a matter of time. it was just how bad it was gonna be and the end result isnt that swift. he paid with his life.

Ok Im not going to get into it with everyone about how Curtis rode because most of the time it was dangerously. BUT, he was still an amazing person with a great heart. I grew up with him, have known him since he first moved here in the early ninties. It's a horrible loss and let us let him rest in peace. He will be missed badly.
