First set of twisties is in awesome shape...second set of twisties has alot of broken up shale/gravel all over the place, and of course some bark that Stacy was kind enough to point out...ride with caution!

Rode the whole loop today from Eugene, out Wolf Creek, over hill and dale, and back 126. Here's a taste:

In the farm land, birds haul ass at the sound of the Ducati approaching. Probable fear of predators or gunfire would be reasonable assumptions to an bird brain, what do they know L-twins and Termis. Up the hills refreshing memory with lines and only one "OH SHIT" moment. Once in the woods, Freshly oiled roads govern entry speeds. In the deep woods, visor up to see. Wind and light flashing through the canopy makes 55 seem like 120. Erratic cambers join undulating surfaces, mossy shoulders, random blow down, and the occasional gravel patch to keep you honest. Sometimes the moss is in the peaked center and sometimes a swath runs completely across the road. Workmen wave back as one of the rare straights is taken at speed. No cars. Finally back on 126 managed to access sufficient space to take the long fast curves of the hills at speed before hitting civilization again.

Came over Smith River Road and Wolf Creek in the truck on Sunday... wished I was on the bike the whole time. Kept prodding the girlfriend, "this would be more fun on the bike, babe!" I didn't receive as much enthusiasm as I was giving... :idunno:

Poetic prose Dave! I checked the corner that Will spoke of last October, and I can see the problem of gravel on that curve. I wish someone wanted to ride today before the weather sets in...:pooped:

Wolf Creek to the summit was nice and clean, no gravel. Backside to Alma through the trees had a bit of debris on the road from the windstorm in March I think. Wrapped around Clay Creek back to 126 and the road was ok...

Cold ride this evening though...

I second this. Had a nice ride through the first couple sets of corners. Clean road and almost no moisture on the ground.

There's a couple major gravel patches now. The first one is in the uphill lane around mile post 7 (just after you cross the creek and start the climb). The next one is just before mile post 8 where they did a very bad job patching the road and left tons of gravel in both lanes. Watch out coming back down because the gravel is in the braking zone before a nice tight right hand corner. Other than that it's in super spiffy shape all the way past the work camp.

Last Friday the 22nd, we did 250 miles to and back on the upper and lower Smith River rd system. I thought about Wolf Creek as we passed it, that is a great Rd.

Heading West the Siuslaw, South Sister, and Lower Smith R. Rd's were pretty clean. Watch out for the new slump in the road, just West of the OX Bow Summit. A new section of hwy is beginning to slide, and there are some pretty large cracks starting to develop in the asphalt.

On the way back, we took Wells Creed Rd. about two miles east of Scottsburg on Hwy 38. This section of Hwy is paved and connects Hwy 38 to the Lower Smith River Rd. This is one of the twistiest roads I have ever been on. Watch out for areas of debris, very little moss, which is surprising for as much rain we have had.

The upper Smith River Rd, in sections, there is alot of timber and fallen trees with moss and bark on the rd. As of last week, the trees were cut back and the road was clear but watch out for debris on this section of Rd.

Regards.
