Senate Bill 124
Beginning Jan. 1, 2010, Senate Bill 124 increases the penalty for riding without a motorcycle endorsement from a Class B (minimum $360) to a Class A (minimum $720) violation. The law also requires a court to suspend the fine for the violation if the rider completes ODOT-approved motorcycle training and receives a motorcycle endorsement within 120 days of sentencing.

As long as we're on the subject of new Oregon laws....

Hey Wes, don't get caught using your canoe in Oregon without an "Aquatic Invasive Species" permit that you must purchase annually:

http://www.oregon.gov/OSMB/programs/09LawsFAQs.shtml

Any operator of a non-motorized watercraft over 10ft in length must have this $7 permit. It's a $152 fine if you're caught without it.

Ah, the revenue generating possibilities a warm day on the Willamette will bring....

I can't wait for the permit I'll need to buy to breathe. Or trade carbon credits with Al Gore for every breath.

I am not heartbroken about the fine, but I am glad to see the proactive side of this, better to use the money to get the class and endorsement then pay a fine.

theyve got 120 days to do it...

ive had to 'escort' unendorsed riders on more than one occasion. do these folks have their endorsement after being pulled over and told to get one? 3 dont, 1 i dont know and 1 does. do they continue to ride.. yes.. would a ticket help them to get endorsed? idk. being stopped and then told you cant ride unless you have a endorsed rider with you sure didnt encourage them to get right. and each has said, "i dont have enough money". its a loophole in the law where anyone sans license can get a bike.
