This is my first post on this forum.
Thought I'd share a few of my favorite road pics.

Took this one in Switzerland last year.

These next few pics are of Passo Del Stelvio in Italy.

Don't want to make any mistakes on these roads.

WOW! That looks like alot of fun. I've always wanted to take a dual-sport trip over-seas... but this looks even more fun!

WOW! That looks like alot of fun. I've always wanted to take a dual-sport trip over-seas... but this looks even more fun!A Dual-Sport would be a good choice. Since I was packin double with my wife,
I rented a BMWK1200S. Closely ressembles our CBR1100XX. Didn't take much time to get the "feel" of the Bimmer. The BMW is more comfortable than our XX but, the XX is a better "Sport" bike. Penkse Shock and Akra pipe helped the XX though along with "other" comfort improvements. My 954 would have been a bad choice for this 11 day ride.

Roads were damp for the first couple of days.

We only rode on the Autobahn for about forty miles. It's not near as much fun as the Pass thru the Alps although, we did see 256KPH on the BMW speedo for a while. (256KPH=152.5mph) was fun for a very short time. About 15 minutes.

All roads present some sort of "road hazzard" Nows the time to keep your faceshiled down. Just incase something gets thrown up from the rider in front of you. (if you know what I mean?) Damn, that bug sure tastes like S"*? !!!!!

Thought I'd mention it again because it still sticks in my mind. Study the pics.
There are no shoulders on the roads. Written law --Downhill traffic has "Right-of way"
No exceptions.

Zero tolerance for mistakes.

Cal, did you do that ride with the group that Motorcyclist goes with every year. I forget what they are called now. Roads like that are what my RC and I dream of..... mmmmmWe did ride with a group. No, it was not the Edelwiess Tour that Motorcyclist magazine uses. Edelwiess has a chase vehicle. We did not. The group would ride to pre-arranged destinations. We changed hotels 5 times. Each time we stopped, we would stay for a couple days riding the local mountain passes.
Then move on.

Truly awesome!!!

Your RC would have been fun but, truth is, much to my surprise, big fast high horsepower is not the answer over there. The roads are so narrow and the corners are so tight, we were always getting passed by Motards. The bike of choice over there is actually the BMW GS series. Upright and manuverable. I now understand why so many naked bikes are sold over there. I saw very few open class "Superbikes". We actually rode for hours never shifting beyond second gear.

Our roads are very fast. Thier roads are truly "technical".
