Been thinkin about a KLR650 to commute on. XX and 954 are no fun thru town to work. Nowhere to pull the "trigger". Will save the Sportbikes for other duties.
Anyone here got one? Do ya like it?

My ex had one, it was the first bike I ever rode on the street. I didn't ride it a whole lot, but we both liked it. It wasn't the most comfortable bike to be a passenger on, but it did do fabulous wheelies!

I used to have one.(2000 kawasaki klr 650) I rode it for about a year. the seat height was a little on the tall side for me,(i'm 5'11'') but that comes with riding a dual sport bike.(lots'o'ground clearance)
around town it was great, it has wide handlebars, so there is little effort in controlling the bike. easy to flick around through traffic. but the trade off..it was kinda squirrelly on the freeway.I never had any issues with it and it was a hoot to be able to ride from my house to go off into the woods on logging roads for the day..It is kinda underpowered @ 35 h.p. and the stock gearing is setup more for the street than for the dirt, but it could run all day at 70 m.p.h. if you want to,had no maintenance issues. valves are shim over buckets and pretty easy to get to, i put 10,000 miles on the bike and the valves were never out of limits. the bike is a little heavier than the suzuk dr 650 maybe because the klr is water cooled with thermostatically controlled fan, there is a lot of aftermarket accessories , for this bike. :2cents: :nerd:

my very first brand new bike was a 1988 Honda NX 650 and really liked it. Road it once from Huntington beach california to Carson City Nevada and back, and it was great! Anyway, thats all I bring to the table. lol.

I've read elsewhere, to believe the KLR motor has delivered many trouble free miles. Seems to be a good choice for a utility type bike?

the KLR from what I've read- since I've been eyeing a dual- is a great bike but heavy. The DR and XR seem to get some more fun reviews- but all seem to be very reliable.
