Well nothing like blasting holes in paper silhouette to lighten up your mood!
:shooting:
Some of us are planning on going to an indoor shooting range this Wednesday from around 6pm till 8pm. If you can make it, please come and join us. It is sure to be a BLAST! (oh man that was lame)
The Baron’s Den indoor shooting range allows the use of all handgun caliber ammunition (full metal jacketed ammo only). So small caliber rifles (.22 cal., 9mm, etc.) are allowed. They have 13 Fifty Foot Lanes and 5 Twenty Five Yard Lanes.
The cost of admission is $25.00 Drop-Ins (Non-Members), or $12.00 Guests of Members. I have a membership, so anyone who has at least a base level competence in safe firearms handling is welcome to come as my guest. For $5 the Baron’s Den rents handguns for range use, so even if you don’t have your own gun you can still join in on the fun. The Baron’s Den sells ammo in most calibers, but if you would prefer to save some money, I would suggest buying your ammo in advance. Wal-Mart and JI Joes have decent pricing on handgun ammo. Again, full metal jacketed ammo only.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to post or send me a private message.
Again I hope everyone who wants to come makes it out for some fun stress relieving entertainment and practice.

Glad to hear you are familiar with the Baron’s Den, and as long as your friend can be trusted to be safe, the more the merrier. We would love to have you both come.
Yeah, she's actually the one who took me, her mom has her CWP, and is a member there. I'll talk to her, we;ve been wanting to go really bad, so you will probably see us there

Tom,
Have you talked to the folks at the Baron's Den recenty about non-members shooting there? I was in last week and they said that their insurance would not cover non-members therefore only members were allowed to shoot.
I maybe mistaken but it might be worth a call to clarify. The cost to become a member is not prohibitive ($25-$50?) but for the folks that might only use it once or twice a year it might not make sense.
I don't mean to throw cold water on the event because it sounds like a blast (no pun intended) and if it works into my schedule I'll be there.

brandon- i just checked their website and it said that NON-members were not allowed to rent any guns, but that they were allowed to shoot for the appropriate fees ($12 for guests of members, or $25 for everyone else)... an annual membership looks to be $75 though, definitely not worth the money for those who wont use it.
so unless they've changed things... we should be fine!
hope to see you there!!

Drop-ins and guests are allowed to shoot, but not rent guns. As a member I can rent guns for those of you who don't have your own. Part of the reason I asked that those who come be able to safely handle a firearm, is because I will be responsible for any guns that we rent.
So hope to see you there Brandon.:bounce:

bummer amy! it would have been nice to see you again :)
yeah, I'm bummed to. I've been kind of casually looking into what it would take to get a CWP, and some training on a firearm. I've only gone once, but totally had a blast and have always wanted to be good at shooting, and compentant with a gun. Maybe next time.

Any chance people would want to do Thursday instead of Wed? I made plans with the familiy to go skating Wed. It's our winter thing (along with skiing, of course!)...

Good call Tess. Good to know that all of us non-members can still get in.
Also, anybody that is thinking of going you will want to bring safety goggles and headphones if you have them. If you don't have them you can rent them there for a dollar or two. I know I am ALWAYS excited about rental gear so I personally like to bring my own.
Hope to see you all there.

about the paintball... i've never gone before... always wanted to try it, but how bad does it hurt to get hit by those things?? i think i remember some friends of mine going and coming back all welted/bruised... but its a cool idea! i was actually just saying the other day that i wanted to try it! we can think of this week as practice for next week... bike night: combat zone! :rad:

I've been playing paintball for years. It hurts to get hit, in that you can feel it and it's not pleasant, but you won't be limping off the play area crying or anything. Try it! I get so amped up I often don't feel it at all.

I thought of another suggestion for a "bike night" even, although I am not sure that it would qualify as an event.
I have a BUTT-LOAD of fireworks left over from the fourth, you know like "sparklers" and that kind of stuff ;). And I was thinking that as long as it is as wet as piss outside, it would be safe to shoot of some "sparklers."
Just trying to throw out some ideas. Maybe they will inspire new ideas in others.

So whats the plan this week? Pool at the Wetlands? (Unless people are set on having a bon-fire) ...Wednesday ...Thursday?
I was thinking that we should do the fire around New Years... On New Years Eve, or next weeks bike night, or the week after ...weather permitting. This week is slammed for me for work so being up late with a fire would be a bit rough.
Damn work getting in the way of my fun again!

i say pool @ wetlands sounds good... maybe around 6:30 or 7? i dont know whether wednesday or thursday is better for everyone, it doesnt matter to me in the least. bonfire can wait til new years-ish
