Just thought this was interesting and wanted to share...

I got quotes on both a 2006 R1 and a 2002 R6. Same coverages on both bikes, same deductibles, etc... Keep in mind that I have a completely clean driving record and that I am..ahem...old :p All quotes are for 12 months of coverage.

Progressive... 06' R1 = $3,600!!! 02' R6 = $1,700!!! (I'm still not sure that is correct..that seems WAY high!) :wtf:

Allstate... 06' R1 = $1,300 02 R6 = $700

State Farm... 06' R1 = $496 02 R6 = $257

I had NO idea that there would be such a difference. Thank you to all that mentioned State Farm having good rates... they will now be getting all of my business because they were also quite a bit cheaper than Allstate on my 3 cars as well. :)

Thanks for sharing that Kat! I have heard that the high performace sport bikes insurance rates are astronomical. It's good to know what a person is looking forward too before hand. thanks much!

Also, have you checked Geico? I just saw an ad on tv for them and motorcycle insurance, and was currious.

I went through the same thing painful selection process last summer, if it wasn't for StateFarm the bike never would of happened. I had USAA for my truck and they were great but they do not offer motorcycle. StateFarm ended up costing $400 for motorcycle and $600 for truck. Everything else was double.

I was in a major car accident first of the year because some unresponsible driver went over the pass with bald tires. In two seconds, 02 Tacoma was no more. I've been happy with StateFarm thus far.

I pay 600 a year with Geico for an 06 CBR 600 RR. They took into consideration my years riding experience. MSF certification, and probably my age. Its just the way it is. You buy a "Vulcan" and you pay 180 dollars a year. You buy a screaming bullet and you pay through your nose....
They tell you that from the very beginning........

...kinda sucks.:frown:

Here is my :2cents: to the insurance companies. :twofinger
