Thanks

Ha ha, I was just talking to a couple of the OSB riders at Jane's BBQ about this. I have been meaning to do the swap on my bike, just don't wanna waste any more nice weather days:smilewink. I will get around to it soon enough, but this is what I have heard: Just about everyone who has done it has loved it. Most of that is just the excitement of having something different about their bike. However, there are advantages to doing it. Easier 1-2 shifts are going to be one of the main reasons I plan to do it. Track use will be one of the other reasons. So I would advice you to check out the easiest (and preferably reversible) way to swap the shift pattern and just try it out.

If you do try it out please let us know how it works out, I will try to do the same.

I think the only thing I would miss is the tapping down for down shifts? It will seem strange to click up for a down shift? I think I am going to try it out though, my rearsets are set up for either way and it will only take about 15 minutes to switch it:thumbup: I will let you all know if and when I try it, thanks Tomcat:yes:

Alright Mason, I couldn't wait to hear what you had to say, so I did the GP mod to my bike :smilewink

First thought: So far I have only ridden to work and back, so I haven't really gotten to "enjoy" the change. But so far, so fun!:rad: I love the feel of the upshifts. Couldn't be any fast or smoother. Should make my clutchless shifts even smoother. The down shifts are better now that I fiddled with the push rod angle. I am expecting that I will only enjoy it the more I ride with it. The only thing is the down shifting to a stop. If you forget and come to a stop, it takes a little effort to sit there and "up shift" back to 1st. Usually not an issue.:o Especially if your tranny isn't as messed up as mine is becoming
But I digress... Yeah I recommend this mod for anyone that can make it without spending too much, and preferably able to undo it if they change their mind. But don't know why you would want to undo it:idunno::rad:(Maybe to sell :blah-blah)

Will check back once I have a better "feel" for the mod...:ride:

Mason stealing my ideas lol. Yea I hope you like it. It takes a bit to get used to but it works well. Especially if your comfortable with shifting with no clutch.

Hey Guys-
I have not done my homework yet.....How difficult was this mod? I have a 2005 GSXR 750 and have heard of switching it up but amn unsure as to what it all entails.

Every bike is different, for the most part. Some require a simple reversing of the shifter arm. Some can only be done with different rearsets, etc.

For mine, I had to cut a large opening to allow space to reverse the shift arm. Not too much work, but I try really hard to get stuff just right. :D

You should check the gsxr forums and search for "gp shift conversion." Should let you know if there is an easy solution to change your shift patter.:blah-blah

I have always wanted to try it, but I do know, once you get used to it and go back to a stock shifting pattern, life can be interesting till you get used to it again.

I've ridden a ZX10 with the reverse shifting. It didn't take as long as I thought it would to get used to, til I got back on my bike and 'reverse shifted' it once... :wow8:
