Just heard that a 28 year old died from a head on collision with a truck going down Marcola Rd near shotgun creek. My mom saw it on the news, but I havnt heard if the rider is anyone we know on here.

Kinda weird too, cuz I live 2 miles away from Shotgun Creek and I havnt seen or heard anything at all that would suggest an accident.

Apparently the lady driving the truck had to drive away to get within cell phone reception to call for help. However the authorities thought that it was a hit and run at first.

My condolences go out to family and friends who knew the rider.

From what I understand, it was a dirtbike rider that was traveling on the gravel roads up at the Shotgun OHV area. It's pretty easy to forget when riding up there that vehicle traffic is allowed on those roads also. Never think you know what lies behind a blind corner...
RIP to the person that lost his life... and if what I heard was true, my deepest condolences to the 15 year old son that watched it from behind. :mecry:

this has been one bad weekend for bikes. the news said the dad was riding inthe middle of the rode in fromnt of his 15 year old son. When I ride in the dirt I do the same thing with my daughter behind me. I guide right on the corners and teach the kiddo to do the same. Still......you like to think the cages are going slow since your in an ATV park. My heart goes out to the son.

Hi everyone,

The guy who died a few days ago was a very old friend of mine by the name of Paul Pantele. He most likely was doing some dumb $hit as usual but he was a good guy and I wish the best to his wife and seven kids.

Rock on Paul!!!!

So sorry to hear of your loss man. Is there a fund for the family? Some of us like to help out on these things.
