Call me a looser, but I actually will be in town over the holiday weekend and was wondering if there was any interest in getting together for a Sunday and/or Saturday ride?:idunno:

If there is a few people around, lets roll.

Right on! I was wondering how many people would still be around town and up for a ride.
Shall we plan on meeting at noon on Sunday at the Shell station.

Also, if anybody is game for a Saturday ride too please speak up.

Coast run would be good.

Have any of you done the 126 to Cougar Res. on hwy 19 to Oakridge before? It was rated something like the 4th best ride in Lane County last year. Might be a fun change up for a Saturday ride.

What about other high cascades ride? Anybody know of any good mountain rides to the East?

I hear you about the 4th, I to have to work on Monday too. While were kicking around dates, what about a ride on the 4th too? Once again, any takers.

That's Aufderheide (FR-19), and it's an amazing road. I think it's a better run to go from West Fir to Cougar (head N rather than S). Saturday would be better for me as well.

Quick Note about Aufderheide: Please do yourself a favor and respect the road. There are hazards, and many corners are unmarked - some of them decreasing radius corners. Every year bikes are lost on that road, and it's not just new riders. One of the best riders I know had a bad accident there just last year. He was just a few bikes behind me (I didn't see it). A few corners later, the guy immediately behind me bit it on a corner as I watched in my rear view. You don't need to push it hard to have fun on that road. Turn it down a couple notches - it will still be fun, I promise. I would really like to go at least 1 season without picking up bike parts on that road.

Coast run would be good.

Im in for that ride. It sounds like a great road, and even better advice. Id rather not see any of the new friends Ive made lately get banged up or worse on a ride  When I lived in North Carolina, I used to take a ride once, sometimes twice a year to a place called Deals Gap..or "The tail of the Dragon", and miss that run! Here is a link if anyone is interested in checking it out.. http://www.tailofthedragon.com/dragon.html

I think we had more Saturday votes. As for time, how about noon? That way we could eat first! (just a suggestion)

Xusia, you are absolutely right about that road. Between rocks around the Cougar area, trees and lazy ass drivers hanging wide corners it is a ride that you don't need to do at mach 1 to have a good time. I was up there about 4-weeks ago and I know there was at least 1 downed tree that covered the Southbound lane. Anyways, should atleast be a good ride.

Shall we say noon Saturday? As for a meeting place I am all ears. I personally don't have a preference if we attack it from the north or south side but someone name a centerally located place to meet and lets roll!:crash:

to let you guys know there was still snow last month when i took that route. seems like it was about the middle of FR19 to 126. we ended up turning around and did a differnt route. And also for 15 miles i think it was or 12 miles there was a strip of gravel across the road every 100 yards starting from Westfir but that could also be gone now too.

Well, there was no snow and minimal gravel on the asphalt. Some of those gravel strips were still there (where they cut into the asphalt, but some were patched. Overall, not bad enough to prevent me from riding the road.

I had a really good time today, and it was nice to meet 04CBR1000RR in person! I finished up the day with some ice cream. Good ride + ice cream = perfect day!

Yeah they were strips of asphalt taken away and gravel laid in its place. And thats Great that there wasnt any snow. Well i guess i should have went with ya.... But i didnt want to go and then run into snow again and have to turn back. well i guess ill try and go next time.
