Eugene to John Day,
John Day to Christmas Valley,
Christmas Valley to Eugene.

Here's a shot of highway 395, a few miles north of Burns.
This is a stretch of road running down a canyon that consists of nothing but 45 mph posted sweepers with 1/4 mile straights in between.
Didn't see a single car on that entire section of road!

2nd pic is our bikes in the parking lot at Fort Rock. If you've never been there, it's worth the trip. It's a lava dome that exploded and left a ring of rock standing. It's a few miles east of highway 31 about 30 miles from LaPine.

Last pic is a better view of Fort Rock.

And what's a weekend ride on vintage motorcycles without a roadside repair job?
The disadvantage to riding old bikes is that you might have to do a repair at the side of the road.
The advantage to riding old bikes is that you can do a repair at the side of the road, and be back on your way again.
Anyhow, this is what makes touring on antiques an adventure instead of just another ride, where the outcome is assured.
Just needed a bit of fettling with the ignition points.
My bike didn't have a problem. Ran flawlessly the entire trip.

I imagine it's probably pretty simple to set the gap on the points on those old BMW's (beemers right?) probably have a tool that doubles as a feeler gauge / some other tool.:clapping:

The points were burning. We used sandpaper.
Always carry a bit of 400 grit around in your toolkit.

You never know when you gonna need it!
