I just found out that we have 3 extra tickets to the races at Laguna Seca... July 22,23. If anyone is interested in the tickets, and/or riding down there with our group, please let me know. :) FYI... the ride down and back will not be a straight shot...we are taking 3 days to ride down there and at least that on the way back to do some sightseeing.

It's back up to three tickets available now. I am no longer going.I checked it out online. Three days. 90 bucks. I wanted to do 2 days.... My original ride down there punked out on me.... I wouldnt have expected it any different. Its always the big talkers that usually turn into losers when its crunch time....... Whatever!

I will be able to make a decision before the end of the week. I dont think a 3 day ticket is going to be worth it, cause we are only planning on being there Saturday and Sunday.

30 bucks is a few miles of gas.....

No biggie. I don't care about the other two tickets. I am selling my ticket for $80.00 now that the bike is totalled and I won't be able to ride down.

Yep, my limited edition R1. I had it for a glorious 2 weeks and 1,500 miles. I loved it. I don't believe it was too much power, but not being a very large or strong woman, I had to really throw myself off of the side to take a corner fast. We were coming down from the top of Mary’s Peak and I should have done a “systems check” on how I was feeling when I got back on the bike. I got tired when we were hanging out at the top and really didn’t acknowledge it. About four corners down I was in a really sunny area, then went into a really dark shaded area and by the time my eyes adjusted a corner snuck up on me. Being on a larger bike I didn’t feel I had time to throw myself off the side far enough to make the corner and so I grabbed some front brake. The side of the road was full of fir-needle debris about a foot or so into the road. When I hit that the bike slid out (low-sided?). I believe I hung with the bike until it hit the soft gravel. Then it flipped the bike over and catapulted me about 20’ in the air, clearing a log, and into the middle of a 20’ patch of brush, I rolled head over heals about 4 times where I stopped approximately 40-50‘ down the embankment. Ten feet in either direction and I would have hit large rocks and trees. The bike ended up rolling head to tail down the very steep incline at least 8-10 times, hitting a tree and multiple large rocks. There is virtually nothing unbroken on the bike. The engine case has a hole in it, the sub frame broke OFF on both the front and back. 80% of the plastic came off the bike. I truly believe that there was some divine intervention, as I ended up with just a little road rash, a little bruising, and a nickel size deep gouge in my knee. All considering I am VERY lucky!!! I, by all means, should probably be paralyzed or dead right now. The Joe Rocket Ballistic pants and Shoei helmet definitely saved me. I was actually more sore the week before when I did a super-man air off the dirt bike. (where I got the matching road rash on the other hip…lol.) I am very sad that the bike is gone, and I won’t be going to Laguna. I was going to get another R1, but I believe that…yes, everyone was right, a 600 would just be much more “flick-able” in the corners. So I am looking at that route at this time. It’s just in my personality that if someone tells me that I can’t do something I am damn well going to do it!!! … even if it is not very bright…lol. I have never ridden without full gear, and I feel very fortunate for that. If you are curious as to what the bike looks like after that check out my Myspace pictures at….

You know, I think liter bikes are great. I had a 2000 R1 and before that I had an FZR 1000. Before that it was a GSXR 1100. What I did find out later was the reason I bought these bikes was because at the time the 600 class was not up to the same quality. (My reasons for this came to me after thinking about it....) For example. You can have a lightweight aluminum frame.......only on a liter bike. You can have larger tires..... only on a liter bike. You can have the latest swingarm technology.... only on a liter bike. You can have well built and well fitting parts.... only on a liter bike. That was 1992 to......2002. Well, not anymore...

I might have my bike sitting between 8 and 11 grand most of the time,(That takes some getting used too..... and you really dont have to anyway) but let me tell you that my 175 lbs feels just perfect as that rear tire is bouncing around and the front end is giving me perfect feedback in the corners. I must admit that after stepping off a Ducati 748SPS, I had a lot to learn about smaller sportbikes built by the Japs... What I learned was the 600 class has come leaps and bounds in quality and technology in the last few years.... The price shows it too. Hindsight is always 20-20.
I like light and even though the 00 R1 boasted the closest to Moto GP...:blah-blah :blah-blah , I still didnt like the tall in the saddle, too far from the ground feeling. Remember when I mentioned "sitting on the tank"? I like to put my face into the corner and let the bike follow..... This is how it feels with this demonspawn:devil: screamin double R.

U might like it too.

That makes a lot of sense. I know that it's like that with all the dirtbikes too... the technology is getting better on all the bikes not just the big ones now. I am not foolish enought to think I could ride either a 600 or 1000 to even remotely close to their potential anyways (Tho on the 500 I think I was getting damn close...lol. ) I have had some offers from some people who I've ridden with on the coast to try out a CBR600RR track bike. It's a weird feeling not having a bike right now.... I pretty much lived on that R1 every spare moment I had after I bought it. It will be interesting to see the differences between the 600 and the R1.

Hey, its okay... I like to see some passion about this sport  . The R1 howled too...literally. The guy I bought it from told me that if you were really railin on the bike it would let out this eerie howl...I thought he was nuts!! I only got to hear it one time, but he was right, it made the creepiest howling noise, but it was pretty cool to hear it sing!!! I am just sad that I only got to hear it once. Nothing feels better than taking a corner just right... like a roller coaster that YOU are in charge of.
